President Trump in an Oval Office interview with Hill.TV launched one of his most ferocious broadsides to date against Jeff Sessions, suggesting the attorney general was essentially AWOL and performing badly on a variety of issues,
I dont have an Attorney General. Its very sad, Trump told Hill.TV in an extensive and free-wheeling interview Tuesday from the Oval Office.
The president has long excoriated Sessions for his March2017 decision to recuse himself from the Russia collusion investigation. But on Tuesday he suggested he is frustrated by Sessions' performance on far more than that.
Im not happy at the border, Im not happy with numerous things, not just this, he said.
He gets in and probably because of the experience that he had going through the nominating when somebody asked him the first question about Hillary Clinton or something he said I recuse myself, I recuse myself," Trump said.
And now it turned out he didnt have to recuse himself. Actually, the FBI reported shortly thereafter any reason for him to recuse himself. And its very sad what happened.
The FBI in an early 2017 email to a Sessions aide, made public last December, concluded that Sessions did not need to reveal contacts with foreign government officials that were made in the course of his work as a senator.

He wouldn’t get past the primary.
I agree that he seems to have some sort of PTSD, lol!
“He was your choice Mr. President. Fix your problem!”
IMHO a large number of us here on FR thought he was a good choice. IMHO I was wrong.
Get off your butt, Mr. President, and either fire him or quit bellyaching. You’re looking like a weakling.
Trump didn’t finish his thoughts.
Why hasn’t he replaced Sessions?
Agreed. I didn’t know enough at the time to realize this was a bad choice and just how bad a choice it was. Trump should have gone with Chris Christie or similar. For all his faults, that guy is loyal and tenacious.
Trump has a lot of leverage with Sessions.
Strange as it sounds, he could do a lot to help a post-AG Sessions. All of this griping would pale if Trump helped him out somehow in the future.
Trump needs him to hang in there loyally during the transition to the next AG. So to abruptly fire Sessions would be stupid.
Christie would have been a horrible choice. The guy was tainted.
This is the latest in a long series of warning shots then. Sooner or later warning shots lose their effectiveness and just become whining.
We don’t have an Attorney General and we lost a Republican Senate seat. Double fail.
‘Fire him. Then what? With Rosenstein then in charge of everything, he needs a new AG asap.’
All in the timing, isn’t it?
Step One — expose Rosenstein.
Step Two — replace Rosenstein with someone who rocks for the USA and real justice.
Step Three — just to be safe, get Sessions to cooperate with a smooth transition.
“The Dems will NOT confirm a replacement; theyve said as much.”
It’s not up to the dems at this point is it?
Yes, tainted. But who could reasonably run the place with no-nonsense diligence? Imagine Judge Pirro. That’d be fun, shake them up choice. Wonder if Senate would approve? Could she pass scrutiny?
They might no confirm, but the person could be “acting” forever. End of day, it is Trump’s choice.
While most guns have limited clips, an angry boss has a drum with ‘chain-load’.
You’d be surprised how effective multiple warning shots are.
A rattler doesn’t rattle just once. You here it linger persistently.
I bet Trump’s next choice would be amazing. He’s ‘blooded’ now. He knows the Swamp.
FIRE HIM ALREADY !!! This is ridiculous already!
That’s why the mid-terms matter.
Replacing an AG will take clout — coat tails.
Either Trump gets stronger or he gets weaker.
Well, we’ve seen, up close and personal, what they’re doing to his recent SCOTUS pick.
I want Sessions gone as much as the next person, but I trust that PDJT has something up his sleeve.
He hasn’t disappointed me yet. :)
