WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Republican U.S. Senate committee chairman said on Tuesday the woman who has accused President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault decades ago has not yet agreed to appear at a public hearing planned for Monday.
Senator Chuck Grassley said Christine Blasey Ford, a university professor in California whose allegations have put Kavanaugh’s once-safe nomination in serious jeopardy, has not responded to attempts by the Judiciary Committee, which oversees the confirmation process, to contact her.
The hearing represents a potential make-or-break moment for the conservative federal appeals court judge’s confirmation chances for the lifetime post on the top U.S. court, as Trump seeks to continue his goal of moving the federal judiciary to the right. Kavanaugh, who has denied the assault allegation, met with officials at the White House on Tuesday for a second straight day.
“We have reached out to her in the last 36 hours, three or four times by email, and we’ve not heard from them. So it kind of raises the question ... do they want to come to (the) public hearing or not?” Grassley said in an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.

“A group of white men are demanding to drag this woman through the coals and tarnish her reputation. They didn’t agree to the reasonable precautions we asked be put in place to protect her. Now they want to vote this man to the highest bench when he’s been credibly accused of rape. We need a fair hearing on this in a few months so a proper investigation can place after mid terms. The war on women continues!”

Betty Ford's allegations apparently ain't all they're cracked up to be.
I liken this woman to an Afghan peasant, low experience and low IQ, a loyal follower of Muslim ideology, who has been convinced to wear a suicide vest for the next attack planned by the political jihadis Feinstein and Schumer.
This is all part of their tactics. Undoubtedly, they want further concessions, they will likely refuse to appear unless the FBI starts an investigations and demand that they only appear after the FBI investigation is complete.
The Judiciary Committee should do nothing about the FBI Investigation demand. The FBI has declined to investigate. The allegation occurred over 35 years ago, if it occurred and if it was a crime, it was not a federal crime. The Statute of Limitations has expired, therefore there cannot be a criminal investigation.
If she remains silent, or if she refuses to appear, they ought to convene on Monday, have her name plate at the witness table and invite the press to hear the Sergeant at Arms announce her name three times. At that point, the Chair should announce an immediate vote. If Flake disappears or vote no, then the nomination should be passed to the entire Senate with no recommendation. Time for dirty tricks to end.
If confirmation fails, then take the issue to the voters in November. Make the Democrats win an election and bring a stop to this organized criminal activity disguised as a democratic process.
Repubs you spineless losers on this cmte. End this charade by having the vote on Thursday as planned. The Dems had their chance week one and purposely waited and sat on this for max delay. To them falls any consequent blame.
The Democrats are going to spin this however they want. It will be much harder to do this when she ran around to the media claiming that she wanted to testify, then refuses to do so.
Even some Democrats I know have said the credibility of the Ford accusation is greatly diminished because the Democrats already employed so many zany tactics before this during these same proceedings.
I’ve been a harsh critic of the Republicans many times, but on this one I think they played it in a way that serves their political purposes well.
I doubt she has the strength to walk into what could turn into a perjury trap, so she will toss her firebomb and run and hide. Before long she will be on The View whining “Trump broke me”.
There is a reason this slut wanted to remain anonymous. She thought she could just make the accusation and stay hidden.
Time to air out the ugly dirty family laundry.

The other man said it didn’t happen. Depending on which of her stories you listen to, there were 2 to 4 boys and one girl. In the bedroom was two boys and Christine. The second boy in the bedroom, said her allegation wasn’t true.
By her own admission Christine was promiscuous and drank alcohol at parties.
He doesn’t want to do that. That opens up a plethora of legal games for her lawyers to enjoy. This would lead to endless delay through lawfare.
I would say show up Friday, in person or by phone to give your testimony. If you don’t the vote will be held the following Monday.
She’s being fitted for her handmaiden outfit and black Antifa mask.
Asked whether there would be a hearing if Ford did not agree to appear, Grassley suggested he couldn’t see a reason to hold one.
“What would be the purpose of the hearing if Dr. Ford doesn’t want to respond?” Grassley said.
Like I said, none of that proves she’s telling the truth or lying. The reason she’s being protected from testifying for the moment is (in my opinion) is that Dems know that the GOP is poised to cave and they don’t want to risk this woman saying something stupid that gives Kavanaugh hope. So she’s being hidden away while the GOP cowards wring their hands and ultimately decide to screw the country by powering dems to a big election win in 2018.
I would not subpoena her. Grassley has made the hearing available to her. If you subpoena her you look like you are bullying here in a way to some and at this point you don’t need too.
Grassley should then say we offered to allow her to be heard and corroborate her story and she declined to be heard, therefore we have to assume as the FBI, did there is no there-there. We will vote this nomination out of committee immediately and do it.
Of course, it will be nice if there is a backlash against the dem senators that brought this forward....
