The New York Post mocked Meghan McCain as The Meg on its Sunday cover after she used the opportunity of her fathers funeral to attack President Trump. The Meg is a reference to a plus-sized shark in the late-summer hit movie The Meg, starring Jason Staham.
The New York Post cover is just one part of a brewing backlash against McCain and the overall funeral service for Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), which turned into an unseemly partisan rally Saturday with speakers like former Presidents Barack Obama and even George W. Bush trashing President Trump, who Sen. McCain refused to invite to his own funeral.
Also not invited was former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin, John McCains unfailingly loyal 2008 vice presidential running mate.
What made Saturdays shocking display all the more crass was that Trumps daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared were invited to the funeral and were forced to sit there and be humiliated, which might have been the plan. The McCains are infamous for holding petty grudges.
In an obvious shot at Trump, Meghan McCain used her eulogy to describe the death of her father as the passing of American greatness. The real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege while he suffered and served.
For good measure, she added, The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again because America was always great.
Obama was also not subtle. He ripped into those who traffic in bombast and insult and phony controversies and manufactured outrage.

LOOL..Thank you Waterhill.....
Of course they will, someone has to work to support their welfare state.
I don’t relish fighting other Americans. It doesn’t mean I won’t especially if they insist!
:-)
When the Trump family became the focus about two years ago, I neither liked nor disliked Ivanka and Jared.
However, after the way they have been treated for taking part in some good issues, I find that I feel surprisingly protective of them. They seem like good people, good husband and wife, certainly good parents, good citizens.
One word comes to mind when I see them in public...poise.
They are in such control of situations, I think it is admirable.
MEGhan’s adopted sister Bridgitte (who has publicly done/said nothing offensive or nasty) also has a serious weight problem, I was shocked to see her like that. Meghan is obese, but her sister is morbidly obese. Bridgette seriously needs medical help or she is going to die young.
Exactly. Lesson to be learned: do not trust Democrats. This rule can be applied to amnesty and gun control.
Probably there to confirm to their mom that this vile, small, backstabbing, warmongering, corrupt piece of dirt was truly going to the dirt.
kinda feel bad for Bridgette. Not sure her original family situation, but adopted into that rich but mean spirited family of mccain’s.....no surprise she likely turned to food for comfort over the years to deal with all the change and stress.
Another Jane Fonda in the making so to speak.
Exactly. 8>)
I believe that is her adopted sister
My daughter 29 years old and her friends live in a world that thinks everything should be fair they dont like how the Left is treating Ivanka. They relate to Ivanka like they were never able to with Hillary.
Lovely, and I agree with you.
prior to the funeral,
Megs was seen eating ALL of Cleveland, tennessee.
Before you get too excited. Ivanka and Jared were there because Trump wanted them to be there.
IWHO, they took the abuse of being there and telegraphed the shame so We Deplorables could realize how vindictive this Fake News political BS masked as a funeral really was.
The outrage from this any many other things will get Deplorables to turn out in large numbers.
Good one, Lucy!
I prefer Megaton for the well fleshed strumpet.
You mean they “jumped the shark”? LOL
I’m waiting for a someone to bring up John McCain’s legislative accomplishments... Oh wait!
