Wearing an orange polo shirt and slacks, 53-year-old Roorda leans back in an office chair at the Saint Louis Police Officers Association. His title is “business manager,” but he’s unofficially a lightning rod — for his aggressive critique of Ferguson protesters and defense of local cops such as Darren Wilson, who was not charged in Brown’s 2014 shooting death. The case sparked street battles between police and protesters that have left deep scars in the region.
Roorda is also a lifelong Democrat who has served in the Missouri state legislature and is running for county executive this year in bellwether suburban Jefferson County. He says Clinton’s biggest error came in embracing the mother of someone who tried to kill a police officer. “The most persuadable voters in this country live in suburban communities around large cities,” Roorda says. “Your blue-collar working-class men and your soccer moms are a very persuadable class of voter, and they also tend to be very pro-police.”

Why on God’s green Earth would ANY cop EVER vote Democrat in the post-Obama era??
Some police officers still vote Democratic or even Green Party or other left-wing parties because of their pensions.
They feel Republican governors are out to cut their pensions.

I’ve never heard of that. If anything, common sense dictates that they’d be scared to death of Democrat governors and Mayors and Legislators.

Metro police have been standing down in the face of violent crime whenever ordered to do so by their ‘Rat masters for years now....
This whole black lives matter thing is such horse blank in my opinion.
Black.lives matter in cases of altercations with white police officers or white Hispanic neighborhood watch people. In gang violence in Chicago and other cities, it doesn’t matter.
And what of the rhetoric at black lives matter events?
“What do we want? Dead cops. When do we want it? Now.”
And, “pigs in a blanket, fry them like bacon”, which harkens back to the 60s era when police were called pigs.
How do you have a rational discussion with these kinds of people?

Is it different than “baseball Mom” or a “football Mom”? It makes absolutely NO sense.

Baseball moms and football moms are raising future republicans.
Soccer moms are raising the next generation of Bernie’s supporters.
A “soccer Mom” is different than other sports parents because she doesn’t let her boys play real sports.
When Democrats took the City of Detroit into bankruptcy retired cops took it up the shorts with an 80% pension cut.
If I were a cop THAT’S what I would be concerned with.

Bwahahhah! What a sideways compliment. The most persuadable voters are the dumbest 10% of voters that somehow still manage to vote, the swing voters. The ones that have no rational guiding political philosophy they can express, but vote on things like who the press claimed won a debate or which candidate happens to be ahead in the polls on election day. The majority of campaign money is spent to sway the swayable, because that 10% of voters supposedly decide all elections.

The Left shouldn’t worry about it: The Police are a handful of men who were, formally, a rock band out of Britain, led by Sting. They’re not eligible to vote in the U.S.
A soccer mom lives based on trends and pop culture, not core, guiding principles. They are highly malleable, sticking their fingers in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. All the while thinking they are deep thinkers. Therefore, their vote is subject to a great deal of what the media leads them to believe.
That is the best explanation I have. Baseball, or football Moms have core beliefs.
