Cardinal Burke: ‘Very Grave Problem of Homosexual Culture in the Church
Breitbart ^ | Nolte

Posted on 08/17/2018 8:40:24 AM PDT by wardaddy

Cardinal Raymond Burke has called for “open recognition” of the Catholic church’s homosexual culture in light of recent revelations of sexual abuse. “I believe that there needs to be an open recognition that we have a very grave problem of a homosexual culture in the Church,” Burke said in an interview Thursday, “especially among the clergy and the hierarchy, that needs to be addressed honestly and efficaciously.”

he former head of the church’s equivalent of the Supreme Court said it was already “clear after the studies following the 2002 sexual abuse crisis that most of the acts of abuse were in fact homosexual acts committed with adolescent young men.”

“There was a studied attempt to either overlook or to deny this,” he said, referring to the mainstream media cover-up of the homosexual nature of the abuse as well as such denial within the church itself.

admit that the Church doesn't accept the Holy Scripture as inspired

I don't' know if this is stupidity or dishonesty, but I did not say anything of the kind. The Holy Scripture is certainly inspired, how else the Church would propose it for your salvation?

Leo XIII on the inerrancy of scripture (from Providentissimus Deus) [ecum.]

Read.

The role of the Church is to bring people to salvation.

The role of the Holy Spirit is to bring people to CHRIST.

It's Christ and Him alone that salvation comes through, not a church.

We testify to Him and the Holy Spirit convicts them, then they believe and are born again and become the church, members of the body of Christ through the new birth, not through baptism or church membership..

If your church is responsible for the Bible and Scripture as you claim, then it’s the work of man and not inspired.

If the Catholic Church had ended in 1000 AD no one on the planet would have heard of Jesus Christ by 1500.

...are being persecuted for being Catholic.

OH?

I think they're being prosecuted for being a pedophile.

That still doesn’t address the ‘cease being a priest’ part.

“the Holy Scripture is itself the product of the Catholic Church.”

Thus; the Holy Scriptures describe the activities of the Catholic Church in Revelation chapters 2&3; showing how true to the Apostle's teaching it has always been.

The Holy Scripture as a whole is the product of the Catholic Church.

True.

Too bad that the TRADITIONS of the church did not get placed into that book; since they POST date it's creation.

“We are Christians, we do what Christ tells us.”

No. Rome does what paganism added.

Christ never taught or commanded half of what Rome created.

BTW, did Christ tell you to burn women and children alive?

Throw them off cliffs?

Impale them?

Torture them?

Sell church offices?

Cover up sexual abuse of the innocent?

Accumulate wealth?

Force conversions under the threat of death, like Islam?

Institutionalize idolatry?

Create a pantheon of demigods and demigodesses like Greece?

AND SO VERY MUCH MORE.

All are things Rome did.

Christ tells any church to do those things.

Baloney.

God is responsible for the spread of the gospel and the protection of His word.

If the Catholic church had disappeared from the face of the earth in 1,000 AD, many people would have been spared the misery of its sordid history.

The Inquisition would never have happened and many kids would not have been molested and abused.

Your translation, probably, mistranslated the word επισκοπος. Like I said, avoid ignorance and read the Catholic Bible.

'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone,
' it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.'

'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master - that's all.'

All that was off-topic

Since we are up to more than 250 replies already in this thread; it is only natural that the main topic has been thorough massaged and other concepts; somewhat related; are making an entry.

The obligation of the church is to police itself,

Bears repeating; louder!

“If the Catholic Church had ended in 1000 AD no one on the planet would have heard of Jesus Christ by 1500.”

Ah, I hear the growing of the Roman Rooster, bragging that he makes the sun rise by his efforts.

I refer you to history outside your church to see your statement is incorrect.

It is true that Rome worked very hard to slaughter Christian believers outside Catholicism.

Thankfully, there were true believers outside any that may have been in Rome.

God has *always* had His people who haven’t blended the knee to Baal.

Besides, if you look at Luther’s Bible, you’ll see that it DID contain the apocrypha.

Shush!

You'll awaken some Low-Info Catholics!

So the claim that Luther *threw out* books of the Bible that he *didn’t like* is a complete fabrication. LIE!!

See, Jesus says so. we put it in there ourselves.

Editorial prerogative.

Catholics just LOVE to point at John 21:25 to JUSTIFY the extra-biblical stuff that 'Mary' has taught the church; yet they fail the simple stuff that Jesus apparfently DID say:

Call no man father.

Cafeteria Christianity at it's finest!

angrier and angrier

What irritates me is how a thread on absolutely any topic concerning the Catholic Church becomes a generic ecumenical brawl, if you know what I mean. None of that is directed personally to you.

it should be easy to show that Rome and the Apostles are in perfect accord.

It is easy: we and the Orthodox, which is our sister Church, are the only ones who read the Fathers of the Church and stick to the consensus on matters of theology reached by them. Specifically, on the history of confession, read: The Sacrament of Penance; scrioll down to, in particular, "Belief and practice of the early Church".

If you want a broader discussion about what Matthew 16:18 and similar verses mean, find an appropriate thread and flag me.

He did not found two churches, He founded one.

And it is a great one; too!

"Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamum, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea."
