US Soybean Price (per mt) is at a current level of 431.00, down from 442.00 last month and up from 388.00 one year ago. This is a change of -2.49% from last month and 11.08% from one year ago.
So let's do the math: 100 million x 431 = $43B/yr.
GDP is quarterly so the value is $11B/qtr.
So as percent of GDP, soubeans are $11B/(1/4 of GDP)
GDP in 2017 was ~ $20T or $5T/qtr.
So what was the percent of GDP came from soybeans last qtr?
Answer: 11B/5T = .0022% ( Infinitesimal ).
Now this is not a perfect analysis and is very crude but when you are told GDP growth was due to soybeans sales laugh in that person face. They are FOS.

to be fair, that’s .0022 or 0.22%, so even if that doubled at most it helped 0.2%.
There’s a few dozen acres of soybeans next to my driveway. I get all the soybeans I want if my wife’s not looking. But they have too much estrogen so I stay away...
Soy contains chemical compounds called isoflavones that resemble estrogen but don’t necessarily act in the same way in the body. This has lead to an idea that circulates that men should avoid soy. It’s complicated and like anything it’s best to do your own research and weigh the pros/cons.
The same people who might tell you to avoid soy might wave off the negative health effects of red meat and processed meats with sodium nitrates/nitrites etc. or other more well known carcinogens. I’m not vegan by any means but everything has pros/cons and you kind of just have to pick your battles and have a balance.
Some people also avoid corn and soy because they are often GMO and it’s hard to know if that matters either.
