Britany Jacobs, the girlfriend of the man shot and killed in a Florida parking lot last week, says her boyfriend was just coming to her defense and the gunman wanted someone to be angry at. Now she wants justice, she says.
Jacobs, who witnessed the shooting along with the couples 5-year-old son, said she and her two small children were waiting in the car for her boyfriend, Markeis McGlockton, while he ran into a convenience store in Clearwater, Florida. Onlooker Michael Drejka got out of his parked car and began harassing her about being parked in a handicap space, she said.
Surveillance video showed McGlockton exiting the store and shoving Drejka to the ground. Drejka then drew a handgun and shot and killed McGlockton.

The question is what was the guy shot doing when the guy assaulted drew his weapon. Civilians are not trained to draw a gun to keep someone at bay. They can only pull the gun when they are justified to shoot it. They are trained to draw and shoot as one movement.
The assailant is advancing over the guy assaulted and on the ground when he draws. This after the girlfriend comes out of the car to distract the guy assaulted so he doesn't even see her boyfriend approaching and he slams the guy to the ground with force that could have very easily whipped his head into the pavement.

Also, If they don’t like “Stand Your Ground” laws, this is a good one to not prosecute in the hope such laws will be overturned.
Oh yes it was.
He was walking up to the downed man to deliver some Nike justice to his crumpled body.
And it doesn’t have to be a “deadly threat”.
(b)Deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that using or threatening to use such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony.
Maybe you should stop pretending to be an expert.
The various news articles only say that the Sheriff has not arrested him. There's nothing about a DA decision.
"They knew theyd lose in Zimmermans trial but public pressure forced them to charge him anyways."
They should have known they'd lose. I don't know if they did. But that's a different thing. Zimmerman's case was clear self-defense. This is not. Neither had anything to do with "Stand Your Ground".
Like this whackjob did.
I won't try to change your mind on that.
Plus one
We always meet confronting freeper dunderheadedmess
Im old now but boy I fought a lot when young up until age 43 last fight
And I lost some
It never dawned on me to kill folks who pushed me down or sucker punched me
Some here think if someone hits you that you can kill them for it
Thats like a bitch to be honest
The black guy backed up instantly at the sight of the gun.....
Had he continued itd be a stronger case for the shooter
Some guy is within punching distance of your wife/girlfriend yelling at her, and you think he’s in the right?
It’s none of his business what other people do. That is the job of the police.
He got exactly what he deserved.
Some guy is up close yelling at my wife, and I’m not going to be less inclined to deck the guy.
As for D. U., they don’t understand proper gun use any better than you do. The Black guy was not approaching the guy who was down. In fact at the time of the shot, the Black guy was turning in retreat.
That WAS NOT a good shoot.
Approaching someone is not aggression.
What was he protecting her from? Nothing?
Assaulting someone is aggression.
You got it bass ackwards.
Keep thinking. You have not quite gotten there yet but I have total faith that at some point you might arrive.
Like this whackjob did.
I won't try to change your mind on that.
> You come out of a store and some guy has his face up in your wifes face yelling at her. What are you going to do, extend you hand and introduce yourself?
Why not? Simply conceding that the guy had a valid point about handicapped parking spaces would have defused the situation entirely.
That this situation escalated to physical violence was the choice of the deceased. It is a choice that his criminal record shows he has also made in the past. It is a bad choice, and in this case a fatal one.
I’ve managed to go my entire adult life without initiating physical violence against anyone, so I know it’s really not that hard.
You can’t handwave the initiation of violence. It is not a permitted behavior in a civilized society.
We dont normally live in a world Chris where you can kil anyone who pushes you down
Thats absurd
The guy was yelling at his woman
Id have confronted the guy too
Like this whackjob did.
I won't try to change your mind on that.
Come on. Keep thinking. You are so close but you keep wanting to blame the guy who was assaulted. Let your inner democrat go and join reality.
So what?
It’s illegal to park in the handicap spot if you aren’t handicapped. It’s not illegal to shame someone for doing it.
are you a liberal? a never trumper? you can't possibly be a conservative. Look at you taking the politically correct media's side, you probably sided against Zimmerman too.
I guess we have to conclude that you PERSONALLY believe that vicious thugs should be able to shove people to the ground because someone talked to their girlfriend about being in a parking place she was not supposed to use.
Yep that's you liberal boi
The initial aggressor was the guy who walked up to the car to set the woman straight.
Ask yourself this. It he guy was just standing there talking to the woman, do you think the boyfriend would have acted this way.
He could hear the guy popping off at distance. The guy wasn’t going about it in a friendly way. I suspect he was cursing at her and her boyfriend heard him.
Since it was none of his business and was likely cursing at her, I think he got more or less exactly what he deserved.
BTW: After an attack, you are not justified in shooting someone dead, unless they are approaching you and you fear for your life at the time the shot is fired.
The Black guy was not approaching, and was in fact turning away when the guy shot him in the side.
"And it doesnt have to be a deadly threat. You see the "imminent death or great bodily harm" part?"(b)Deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that using or threatening to use such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony."
What, you want to cite the forcible felony bit? Doesn't apply.
Video shows the shooter pull in and park after the girlfriend was already parked in the handicapped spot.
No sympathy here for the guy who got shot; but, if the shooter had a habit of hanging around this store and challenging people who misused the handicapped space, then he was an irresponsible CCW holder. A non-trivial number of people in our society meet criticism with violence; this isn’t exactly a secret. If you carry and you get in enough of these arguments, there WILL come a time when you have to decide whether to respond with lethal force. Why would anybody want that?
