As the editors of The Weekly Standard suggested last week, Congress could pass a resolution of censure for the presidents conduct and his subsequent comments. Congress can also take steps with concrete consequences:
Pass legislation imposing new sanctions on Russia in the event of any future attacks on our democratic process. Dare President Trump to veto it. Override him if he does.
Hold hearings that would include in-depth testimony from the national security team on the Russian attacks, putting the case on the record (again), while putting pressure on members of the administration to correct the presidents comments. Similar hearings should focus on our commitments to NATO.
Take up legislation that would protect the special counsel, Robert Mueller, from Mr. Trump. That bill has already been approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee with bipartisan support but has been blocked by the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell.
Pass legislation that would limit President Trumps power to impose unilateral tariffs without congressional approval.
Call off the lap dogs. Speaker Paul Ryan could back up his verbal support for the Mueller probe by signaling to his colleagues that they should stop their attempts to obstruct and undermine the investigation. Better yet, he could force the embarrassing Devin Nunes, Republican of California, out of the chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee.

Irresponsible nonsense based on nothing. We are safe in Trump’s hands, God help us if we are governed by the NYT.
Oh, okay. Here is the New York Times giving the Weekly Standard advice. If I had a poodle or a parakeet I would have some use for the New York Times. The same applies for the Weekly Standard. As it is I don’t and I don’t.
Translation:
Waaah.
Waaaahhh!
Trump sucks.
I hate Trump.
Resist!
Waaaaaaahhh!!!
STFU and move on...
>>>Where does the Slimes find these writers?
Like Jayson Blair, they just make them up.
Never, ever thrust the NYT’s.
With Trump’s approval numbers going up I would not expect to hear anything from Republicans.
Well, nothing more that is.
Advise via the Weakly Standard. Yeah, that’s gonna work.
Never trumpers tweet for show, NYT!
where does NYT find these writers?
Sort of like politicians are not born, they are excreted (Cicero said) .
So are NYT and WaPo writers. Same toilet stalls at the same YMCA and subways. That’s why their writing stinks.
The Weekly Standard?
LMAO.
Since the US govt interferes in more nations’ elections than any other nation on Earth, should Congress Critter enact sanctions on the US and dare Trump to veto it?
Insanity has take over the GOPe, NeoCons, Kristolites, McMuillenites, McCainites, LindaGrahamnites, etc.
“... Congress could pass a resolution of censure for the presidents conduct and his subsequent comments. Congress can also take steps with concrete consequences:”
By electing Donald Trump, the American voters effectively passed a resolution to censure Congress, the courts, and at least the last three presidents. So this wailing and gnashing of teeth by those who opposed Trump and wanted the establishment/status quo is simply one of the “concrete consequences” of the Trump voters kicking their collective butts in 2016.
The weekly Standard...aint that run by N bet Trumper Bill Kristol
Bet you could find plenty on the sidewalks in San Francisco. Their pedigree would match their intelligence too.
So investigate the Obama appointed cronies who at Obama’s direction didn’t investigate further into any electioneering by Russia?
Does this mean that Russia gets to do the same to all of the Obama era manipulation of Russian elections too?
So many awkward questions.
There seem to be an endless number of jobs at liberal news sites for Never Trump a-holes. But, when they no longer are useful to liberals, they will have find another line of work.
This creep used to be a “conservative” talk show host in Wisconsin. He’s probably killed any chance his wife, Diane, had of being considered for the Supreme Court.
