Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney tore into President Trump on Monday after Trump challenged the intelligence community's assessment that Russia meddled in the 2016 election, calling Trump's behavior "disgraceful and detrimental to our democratic principles."
Romney's comments came hours after Trump held a joint news conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, in which he questioned whether Russia was behind efforts to meddle in the 2016 election.
"President Trump's decision to side with Putin over American intelligence agencies is disgraceful and detrimental to our democratic principles," Romney, who is running for Senate in Utah, said in a statement posted on Twitter.
"Russia remains our number one geopolitical adversary; claiming a moral equivalence between the United States and Russia not only defies reason and history, it undermines our national integrity and impairs our global credibility."
Romney's statement was one of several GOP rebukes of Trump's performance at the press conference. Romney had taken a noticeably softer approach to the president in recent months after being fiercely critical during the real estate mogul's 2016 presidential bid.
Trump has offered Romney his endorsement in his bid to replace the retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah).
Trump's comments on Monday, however, drew criticism from across the political spectrum, with both Republicans and Democrats criticizing him for failing to say whether Russia interfered in the election and casting doubt on his own intelligence community, while standing next to Putin.
Mr. Romney, Mr. LOSER.... IT IS YOU who is “disgraceful and detrimental to our democratic principles.” It is people like you who need to be voted out of our political system.

I cannot image any elected Democrat Senator or Representative criticizing Presidents Obama or Clinton in public as the
Republicans have criticized President Trump.
But then that’s why rats stay in power for long periods of time.

Remember, as Governor of Massachusetts Romney instituted sex education for elementary kids teaching all kinds of crap about how to perform homosexual acts and sadomasochism. Using the same guy to design the curriculum who Obama later hired. Someone used to post threads from Mass Resistance with videos of teachers explaining the programs and pictures of the teaching materials with excerpts.
People on this site didn’t want to believe that he is who he is, and they attacked people who were having none of Romney as being secret Obama supporters.
But Romney and Obama are cut from the same cloth, and persue the same agenda.
This isn’t some new Romney, and he isn’t acting different than he always has.
Our #1 adversary is by far China. The fact that this Mormon assclown cant or womt identify the true threat to our nation makes him unfit to be a senator. Too bad all the other Mormons in Utah can’t grow a brain.
