Watch: Officer fires through window in Las Vegas car chase An officer in Las Vegas fired through a window in a dramatic high-speed car chase last Wednesday.
The police unit released the video on Monday which showed dramatic body camera footage of an officer at the wheel, grabbing his gun, and peppering his windhsield with bullets to stop the suspect from getting away.
The chase and shootout, which occurred July 11, came after officers responded to an attempted murder call, police said.
Another police car joined the chase but was shot at by the suspects a number of times. Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Sheriff Tim Kelly said in a statement that the second officer’s car was hit by bullets at least twice, forcing him to abandon the chase.
He added that during the pursuit, the two suspects, Fidel Miranda, 23, and 30-year-old Rene Nunez, fired 34 shots at officers and hit several marked police vehicles.
One suspect was killed during the pursuit, while the other was left wounded.
Lucky the cop didn’t shoot innocents!

Well of course they could. First, tho, just so the bad guys know the rules of engagement,the cops would send the bad guys a note:
Dear Bad Guys,
Please don't shoot at us in a heavily populated area, especially not in a school zone. Please hold your fire until you have reached a deserted stretch of the road where the speed limit is at least 55mph.

Works everytime, because these killer criminals are well-mannered and concerned about the safety of their fellow citizens.
Nunez and Miranda both have a lengthy criminal past.
Nunez has been convicted three times and also has been arrested on robbery with a deadly weapon, robbery and grand larceny auto charges.
Miranda had previously been convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery and arrested for robbery, kidnapping, grand larceny auto, prohibited person in possession of a firearm and narcotics.
Remember diversity is our strength.
Well of course the thugs popped off multiple rounds and no telling where those landed, but damn, lets just add dozens more errant rounds to the mix. Maybe, just maybe, they’ll miss some kid or grandmother.
One innocent life is not worth these punks. They were caught. They were not going to get away. Eventually that vehicle they were in was going to be stopped or come to a stop by crashing into a light pole or mechanical failure.
Go out and watch the video again. At the point this dumb @$$ cop began firing, they passed multiple vehicles that were in the line of fire.
Obviously, these high capacity clips need to be banned.

I saw a design for one of these fifty or so years ago in Popular Mechanics or some such magazine. Always wondered why there was not one in the windshield.
Or crash his car.
Or run over a passerby, or ram another car, or take hostages, or shoot someone...
What would your opinion have been if the escape vehicle pulled up in front of a business, the perps entered, and they took hostages?
What if one of those hostages was your kid, mom, wife?
What if several of the hostages wound up dead, and one of them was your relative?
As far as I know, nobody else was injured, just the perps.
I’m not sure how you keep score, but in my book our team won.
One guy will never bother another living soul.

These were armed and very dangerous men. They had already shown that they didn’t consider life to be important.
What are you suggesting? Let them go?
Let them shoot at officers until a few of them die?
Let them go off to plan more mayhem?
You'd be singing a different tune if you were burying your child or spouse because one of those rounds took their life...from the thugs gun or the officers weapon.
Many would defend these actions till the cows come home...until it was YOUR loved one that was killed by the errant round. Then you'd sing the blues all the way to civil court suing the crap outta the police force.
I hope the cop begins a new career at Walmart loss prevention with a can of pepper spray instead of spraying .40SW.
