What would your opinion have been if the escape vehicle pulled up in front of a business, the perps entered, and they took hostages?
What if one of those hostages was your kid, mom, wife?
What if several of the hostages wound up dead, and one of them was your relative?
As far as I know, nobody else was injured, just the perps.

One guy will never bother another living soul.

These were armed and very dangerous men. They had already shown that they didn’t consider life to be important.

Ok..so let's play the scenario till the end of time game. NO. That's not what happened. I am addressing firing his weapon in a school zone, motorist in the line of fire along a busy street while swerving and bouncing around.
Very poor judgment. We could change that scenario all day long until the conditions were favorable to fire upon the thug's vehicle...but that's not what happened.
If his round would have killed someones loved one, the officer would be sitting in a courtroom defending his livelihood, assets and bank accounts not to mention taxpayer dollars being paid out to the family from the police departments insurance company.
