Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has spoken out Thursday against the current rate of migrant deportations in Italy, claiming that it would take 50 years to expel a backlog of 500,00 illegal immigrants unless more than 10,000 migrants are deported per year, reports ANSA.
In an impromptu meeting with other EU officials, he stressed the time sensitivity of the migrant issue. Although Salvini made clear that he prefers a peaceful resettlement process for asylum seekers, he leans toward more aggressive deportation procedures after hundreds of additional migrants arriving by boat in the past months have exacerbated problem by overwhelming border control authorities and increasing the backlog.
If arrivals in Europe are reduced there will be no problem at the internal borders of the EU and we can continue to work peacefully among peoples as we intend to do, said Salvini, Express reports.
Salvinis comments on the migrant issue were preceded by his controversial decision to prevent NGO boats carrying rescued migrants from docking in Italian ports. A tough critic of the clandestine immigration taking place in Europes southern border, Salvini has justifies his policy by asserting a Italy-First stance, saying that Italy cannot become Europes refugee camp. While this no-landing policy was the norm of his predecessors, Salvini is more flagrant in his enforcement of the matter and has recruited allies across the European Union to more effectively combat this issue.
I have to do everything I can to protect the people who live in this country . Nobody will ever change my view that the fight against human trafficking and clandestine immigration is one of this countrys primary objectives, Salvini said on RTL radio on Friday.
Salvinis hardline immigration policy was recently overruled by the Italian prime minister in a case involving a docked NGO boat

The Italians as well as other Europeans are committing suicide.
Why?
“Salvini: It Will Take 50 Years To Expel 500,000 Illegal Migrants From Italy”
There are some “old school” people who could get them out in 5 weeks!
Meanwhile they have made 15 babies each. Should not have been allowed in.
How long would it take to kill them?
Challenge accepted.
BS!
Give Sicily the mission to snuff out all illegals in 1 year or less with bonus structure payout for each month early. I have a feeling 90 days will be plenty.
“Why?”
They were taught to loathe themselves, their culture, and having children.
Just as an aside, how long do you think it would take Tony's guys to find a solution?
Bottom line lesson: Lose one election to Left and your cultural heritage is lost as well.
With the proper motivation, it could happen sooner.
Switch the incentives and the illegals will go home on their own.
I believe we got over 10,000,000 personnel home in 6 months or so after WW2 ended.
Cant be that hard - all it takes is the will.
Switch the incentives and the illegals will go home on their own.
It’s won’t take 50 years - it’ll take two years.
Why? Because since WW2 theyve been neutered by pacificism. Masculinity and strength is to be looked down upon. They cant defend themselves. They dont know how.
Uh he’s trying to stop it.
50 years from today is about 18,264 days.
So Salvini is saying Italy can expel only about 27 per day.
I think they can do better.
Think 8 airliners per day each carrying about 300 and three passenger ships per week carrying about 3000, for a total of about 25,000 per week. Italy can get the job done in about 20 weeks.
About a year ago, Burma convinced around 700,000 Muslims to leave in just a few weeks. It just takes making them feel sufficiently unwelcome.
Trouble is, in 50 years that 500,000 will be 2.5 million.
