Schumer: Dems won't boycott Kavanaugh hearings, votes
The Washington Times ^ | July 10, 2018 | Stephen Dinan

Top Democratic Sen. Charles E. Schumer shot down suggestions Tuesday that his party would boycott committee meetings or Senate floor action to try to derail President Trump’s Supreme Court pick.

Liberal activists have demanded Mr. Schumer use every tool at his disposal to try to thwart the elevation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the high court, including parliamentary delays.

Mr. Schumer, though, said there aren’t a lot of good tools left to the minority party to delay action now that both parties have curtailed the filibuster, and he said boycotting the committee or floor would just leave Republicans more space to get their way.

Exactly...The Dems radical activism really picked up in 0bama’s eight years and when President Trump “stole” the election from thunder thighs it’s completely off the rails.

This has got to change and change soon or it’ll destroy our nation.

It can’t be good for the Democrats to have Chuck Schumer come forth like a sadsack and admit there’s nothing he can do.

He’s virtually delivered a full-blown surrender, yet he still wants to conduct the hearings?

With such inspiring leadership, no wonder so many Democrats are Walking Away.

“I think behind the scenes the Democrats told Trump they’d be ok with Kavanaugh.”

Sadly l’m afraid l agree. His virtue signaling comments yesterday scared the crap out of me. If we are lucky he will be as conservative as Kennedy which is not saying much if we’re not we have another Souter.

Chris Matthews wanted the Democrat leadership to fight this tooth and nail.

To not show up for the meetings or the questioning of the nominee, or anything else they could think of to stop it.

Obviously, Schumer knows that the Democrats in vulnerable red states are going to probably vote for the highly qualified Kavanaugh.

Judge Kavanaugh is described as is the glass half full or half empty?

IMO he is Kennedy but slightly leans right. Did the Deep State get the man they wanted on SCOTUS? I don’t know. If the hearings turn out to be Kabuki rather than go for the jugular, then we’ll know.

Everyone disappointed with the choice wanted Amy Coney Barrett with no mention of any others. Maybe PDJT is saving her for the day Ruth Buzze Ginsberg goes strawberry fields.

(sigh) At least the 2nd Amendment is safe for now.

Ginsburg must have a “plank” right in front of her.

The Artist obviously caught her during one of her exercise routines.

...would just leave Republicans more space to get their way.

Isn't that the point of winning elections??!!

Someone should prank them and put blue baby bottles in every democrat’s chair before the hearings.

For all the flaws of these RINOs, they've been consistently on board with Republican Supreme Court appointees for years.

Clarence Thomas was the last Republican-appointed Supreme Court nominee who had even a single GOP Senator vote against his confirmation. And the only two Republicans to vote against his confirmation were Bob Packwood of Oregon (who later resigned over allegations that he molested his female staff members) and future turncoat Jim Jeffords of Vermont.

And that’s when Trump will nominate Barrett. She wouldn’t get through this Senate.

Did Chuckie just wake up and smell the coffee?

BINGO! Trump slides in the candidate least objectionable to the Democrats for the vacant Kennedy seat. Once Ginsberg goes then Trump nominates Amy Coney Barrett "to preserve the gender balance".

"What, you Democrats are misogynists who oppose an eminently qualified WOMAN?"
