Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement last Wednesday, and speculation has been rampant on the next justice to replace him.

President Donald Trump has begun interviewing potential Supreme Court justice and will be officially nominating his candidate to the highest court as early as next week.

Amy Coney Barrett & Gun Control: Do We Know Her Views on the Second Amendment?
Why is it so hard to know her viewpoints on guns? She hasn’t spoken publicly about her opinions on the Second Amendment. She was just confirmed as a judge on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals on October 31, 2017. Prior to that, she was a professor of law at the University of Notre Dame from 2002 to 2017. In her time on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, she’s authored eight majority opinions and one dissent. But none of those opinions concerned the Second Amendment.

UPDATE 2-US appeals court upholds DC semi-automatic rifle ban

The U.S. Appeals Court for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled 2-1 in favor of the city’s ban, which is one of the toughest in the United States and also includes a prohibition on semi-automatic pistols and shotguns.

“The District has carried its burden of showing a substantial relationship between the prohibition of both semi-automatic rifles and magazines holding more than ten rounds and the objectives of protecting police officers and controlling crime,” said the majority opinion.

It was written by Judge Douglas Ginsburg and he was joined by Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson. Judge Brett Kavanaugh dissented, saying the ban was unconstitutional.

The Democrats don’t play fair, and they lie.

Therefore, the best candidate would be the one least likely to be accused by the Democrats of having harassed a woman in the past — harassment to the Democrats meaning anything from innocently touching a woman to putting a hair on a Coke bottle to saying something that could even distantly be construed as flirting (Remember Herman Cain?).

Amy Coney Barrett, as a Catholic and mother of seven, would be the least likely to be the object of such an Anita Hill-type epic multi-week smear campaign by the Democrats.

The top five candidates might look wonderful to US, but we know from experience that the Democrats are capable of making Bambi look like a dangerous war criminal.

So why give them any possible ammunition?

I would think it’s going to be Thapar. Barrett is a Christcuck that is better saved for when Ginsburg kicks off. There is something about Kavanaugh that isn’t “right.”

For the record...Trump Had his Selection picked long ago. He’s just playing the game.

He’s going deep and hard. Loves a fight. It’s Barrett

I’ll take Kavanaugh...at this point the stakes are too high to ‘fill a box’, as Reagan did with his first pick (Sandra Dee). We REALLY need a long-term conservative.

THAT Douglas Ginsburg? (Confirmed.)
Anthony Kennedy was chosen after this guy admitted to smoking pot. The Democrats were in a feeding frenzy and controlled the Senate.

While I trust Trump to do the right thing, personally, I’m pulling for Barrett. It is naive to think politics (and optics) will not be a factor. By picking Barrett, Trump will be able to (once again) control the narrative and put the Dems in a really tough spot by attacking a working mother and female. What, will the Dems put on their hats to protest a female? Besides, it will put some vulnerable Dems (Heitkamp, McCaskill, Donnally) in a must vote for confirmation position.

So you prefer someone selected by Clinton or Obama?

You have no idea about his judicial approach.

But, but, but...Barrett belongs to a “cult”.

1. Just predicting what the marxist propaganda will use in their attacks.

2. I predict (and hope) it’s Barrett.

He previously served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky under Bush and was appointed by Bush to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky in 2008.

Sounds like a Bushy, No more Bushy.

She is a beloved teacher who has three times been voted Notre Dame's "Outstanding Professor of the Year" by graduating classes. Adrian Vermeule, a professor of constitutional law at Harvard and noted critic of the originalist judicial philosophy with which Barrett has been associated, told me that he is almost frightened of her. "I lectured on my last book at Notre Dame and she asked the absolute sharpest, most penetrating questions. She is scary smart."

What is your beef with Barrett?

I think she is on the short short list. She would be a perfect pick. The rats are terrified of her, she is not even the nominee and they are already attacking her. They would go nuclear to stop her. The fight would definitely bring out the votes for the midterm both Ds and Rs. This is a hill worth fighting for. When your enemy is mad make them madder.

Just so I look brilliant if it happens, I’m going to say Trump picks Mike Lee. I know Lee said some nasty things but Trump has proven he can forgive his enemies if they’re highly qualified and will rule the right way.
