On Wednesday, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced he will be retiring from the bench at the end of July.
Kennedy, 81, has been a noted swing vote on the court with his decisions often determine the deciding vote on a court split 4 to 4 between liberals and conservatives even though he was considered a conservative, having been appointed by President Reagan in 1987.
He needed a Latina with gravitas who didn’t give a shite about the Constitution. Voila! Sotomoyor.
Barry wanted a homosexual, like Hillary and many others like himself in his administration, to taint One Nation Under God, as an affront to the Bible, on which one swears To Tell the Truth and the Whole Truth So Help Me God. Barry appointed Muslims and homosexuals (oftentimes one and the same) from his inner circle and from without to expand Homosexuality in America.
Yes—especially if his is seen as the “African-American” seat.
I agree with you but I cant understand why he neglected to appoint a healthy one.
And Joe Biden pontificating as head of the committee. Unmitigated BS including Metzenbaum's Anita Hill "seriousness of the charges" crap.
At 70, Thomas is a mere pup in SCOTUS years.
And how much fun would it be to serve a few years with a clear conservative majority for a change?
Also, he and his wife really care about this stuff. I see him safely going before there is a chance of a Democrat president and/or Senate, but I don’t think that comes until the latter part of the second Trump term.
Weak and thready.
Thank you.
Let's say for a moment that I were nominated, my first response, even if I were qualified would be "are you out of your freaking mind?"
I can't imagine what kind of circus this next choice is going to be.
Newsmax has a longer list more info. Info on the list that is the same list as President Trump used to pick his last USSC justice

I favor Mike Lee or Scalize.
I was actually IN The Senate gallery on the day Ted gave his “Bork’s America” speech, complete with a bunch of silly posters on a tripod...
To this day, I think that’s the time when modern politics started the long-decay to where we are today.
It was all I could do to not yell, and get kicked out.
if you thInk the let is imploding now, just wait until sotomayor and kagen start playing “weekend at ruthie’s”
I’ve scanned a couple of Soto’s opinions. She is incredibly dim and unqualified. No more affirmative action hires.
Mike Lee would be GREAT — but we need him in the Senate.
The best of both worlds is to nominate his brother, Thomas R. Lee, a justice of the Utah Supreme Court. He’s as close to Mike as one could be philosophically, and it leaves Mike Lee in the Senate. Whoever would replace him in the Senate would not be as good.
By the way, their father, T. Rex Lee, was Solicitor General under President Reagan.
The 25-person list comes from teh White House website. I’d take that as pretty much official.
Amy Coney Barrett would be ab excellent pick also.
I’ll take that. I like best of both worlds and Winning.
It might be even more.
Ginsburg is 82; Breyer is 80. They might die; I don’t expect they’ll resign, at least until the second term. They want to wait out a new Democrat president if they can. But at the end of Trump’s second term, Ginsburg will be 88 and Breyer will be 86. And given Ruthie’s bad health, I am not at all sure she makes it to 88.
Rumor is that one of the other liberals is in poor health.
Justice Thomas won’t last forever. So far, he seems to be in good health, and he’s not all that old, but he’s getting up there. I suspect that he might retire in the second term as well to let a younger justice take over, rather than risk letting a leftist president replace him when he dies.
THOMAS is overweight, more than likely has health issues, heart/diabetes are the #1/2 killers of African Americans.
IF we can have the best of both keep Mike Lee in the Senate, send his Utah Supreme Court Justice brother Thomas Lee to the USSC that would be real winning. BOTH are very CONSERVATIVE.
es, that could be the best of both worlds.
President Trump has already replaced Scalia and will announce a replacement for Kennedy soon. He might get to replace Ginsburg, Breyer, and Thomas. That would be a majority of the Supreme Court (especially with Justice Alito added.)
Hopefully, all his picks are as good as Gorsuch. I’m a little concerned about Hardiman and Kavanaugh.
