Washington (CNN)Though the potential separation of very young children from their parents as a result of the administration's "zero-tolerance" border policy has drawn concern across the country, new data released by the government show very few such children have been impacted. As of this week, the Department of Health and Human Services had more than 11,600 migrant children in its care -- roughly 80% of whom are children who came to the US by themselves. But of that total, a much smaller number were under the age of 13, or what is referred to as "tender age" children, and even fewer still were under five. Since the initiative to prosecute all adults crossing the border illegally -- including those with children -- went into effect, only 36 children under age five have entered HHS care -- and not all of those were necessarily separated from adults..

here’s another story: the father and mother decided to hit the border separately, carrying one kid each. The mother had the children’s birth certificate but the father carried no proof he was the father of a one year old. They separated the father and the one year old.
so here’s another question for the liberals: Do you believe that anyone carrying a child should be allowed entry and kept with the child even if the parentage cannot be immediately determined? And if a child expresses fear of the adult they are with, should the child still be kept with that adult?

If you have limited resources and a border intentionally designed to encourage massive numbers to illegally cross, including children, at a certain point the system is going to break.
You are talking like you can just tell all of them to get in line and proceed in an orderly fashion. If these illegal border crossers were cooperative and capable of following directions, they would have presented themselves at a border crossing checkpoint. Instead, they are trying to sneak across and evade detection.
Any system you put in place, they are going to try to game. If you use wristbands, they will forge them, or cut them off an put them on another person, or some other stupid act. These are people who are uncooperative and looking to somehow cheat their way in. If they do not figure out how for themselves, there are lots of Democrats and anti-American organizations with attorneys who will patiently walk them through the process of cheating, lying, and conning their way through the system. And these enemies of America are looking for any and every opportunity to create bad optics for the current administration.
If you implement wristbands, the news will do hours-long reports on how wristbands are dangerous choking hazards or how some immigrant supposedly used a wristband to commit suicide. They will show children with wristbands applied so tightly that it cut off their circulation or bruised a poor child’s wrist due to the child-abusing border agents. If you use indelible ink, they will run stories on how the ink causes cancer, and lawyers will file suit and liberal judges will award illegal immigrants millions. Then the liberals will spread word in south and central America that the land of opportunity and million-dollar lawsuits awaits.
There is absolutely NOTHING that our border agents or this administration can do that will not result in demonic shrieking from the left. NOTHING.

You're completely right. The object of the 'game' is to create chaos. And via chaos to demand to be let in as a 'victim of chaos'. (Let the Children Go!) The reward is a life of comparative luxury so it's worth playing the game. A traumatized child is considered a small price to pay for chain-migration and the 'traumatized child' means a bigger check each month for the 'disability', forget the trauma of dragging a child away from friends, extended family and daddy or how abused or neglected they were to begin with. We are dealing with a population with the average IQ of about 80 - very heavy on the "id", not so much on the "superego".
