House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy scorched James Comey in a blistering opening statement at a high-profile congressional hearing on Tuesday, declaring “we can’t survive with a justice system we don’t trust.”
Gowdy kicked off the hearing featuring testimony from Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz on his review of the Hillary Clinton email case. The top DOJ watchdog is on Capitol Hill for the second day in a row to discuss the explosive report.
But Gowdy launched into Tuesday's session -- a joint hearing held by the House oversight and judiciary panels -- with a fiery condemnation of the former FBI director and certain agents in the bureau he led.
Referring to IG findings that Comey defied his superiors in his handling of the Clinton email case, Gowdy accused the ex-director of essentially operating by his own rules.
"We see Jim Comey and Jim Comey alone deciding which DOJ policies to follow and which to ignore," he said.
Gowdy accused Comey of watering down his initial statement on the investigation's findings and making other decisions on his own. While Comey has suggested he acted unilaterally out of concern for the Justice Department's handling of the case, Gowdy questioned why he didn't seek a special counsel -- as he indirectly did regarding concerns about the Trump administration.
“Instead, he appointed himself FBI director, attorney general, special counsel, lead investigator and the general arbiter of what is good and right in the world according to him,” Gowdy said.

I’m not even sure that Trey Gowdy is real.
Gowdy is worse than Obama for giving people a “good talking to”.
That if you are a private in the Army and email yourself classified information you will be kicked out. (And put in prison}
But if you are Hillary Clinton, and you seek a promotion to Commander in Chief, you will not be. So what I hope you can do today is help the average person, the reasonable person you made reference to, the reasonable person understand why she appears to be treated differently than the rest of us would be...
Gowdy see the trees. Grwdy sees the forest. Growdy sees the hand of God... there is hope.
Some posters are not going to forget or forgive Gowdy’s recent appearances on corporate media in which he said he believed the FBI acted as we would want them to in going after Trump. (Andy McCarthy said they handled Hillary with kid gloves but had a scorched earth policy WRT Trump.) Gowdy seems to have changed his message now. Who knows.
Gowdy is a total rule of law guy... he’s like Jonathan Turley in that way.
Sometimes that works for us - sometimes not. That said Gowdy is absolutely one of the best defenders of all that is good in our system of laws. Which doesn’t mean he walks on water... but either do many of us.
A couple of weeks ago he was defending the integrity of the FBI and DOJ clowns. Gowdy=braggart who can’t do anything but that. As ChuckU would say he is all cattle and no hat.
Unless Sessions surprises me, nothing will happen from any of these acts of corruption. The deep state will not cut its own throat or punish one of their own. Loass Lerner walked without a hiccup, Holder gets people murdered in fast and furious gets held in contempt and is hailed as a great AG, the VA gets all kinds of vets murdered in their “hospitals” and absolutely nothing happens, 911 happens, no open WMD’s found in Iraq, the Boston bombings despite the deep state having unlimited access to all communications and warnings from other countries and nothing happens to those who fail or commit criminal acts. That is a perk of being in the club. You can screw up beyond belief and at worst you get to retire early. I hope I am wrong about Sessions but nothing will happen.
DOJ and the FBI will continue to give the finger to the congressional committees, oh they may be found in contempt but so what. They are still in control and the congress is still paying their salaries. So keep voting and having the illusion your vote counts. When Trump leaves the scene things get really dark, really fast in this country.
Nobody cares about any of this. It’s all about Trump and Conservatives being “Nazis” and running border concentration camps.

How many have been lost to sex/drug trafficking, gang involvement, cheap exploited labor life sentences. You'd think responsible Hispanics and others would be THRILLED the children are getting the opportunities afforded to them because the gov saved them from a life of hell.
I remember the 1950s. I remember feeling safe with Ike as president. I remember the Korean War ended, my Uncle Louie came home and committed suicide soon after (didn't know why), and Ike had us all informed about the Military-Industrial Complex and we all read The Ugly American. We got it.
Then Viet Nam came along, and we didn't much care for it. It was really bad, in a way younger generations don't know. At that time, men were told they had to go to war. It only ended when the draft was made more fair, and elitist sons risked being drafted, too.
The Globalists didn't much like the protests. It wasn't long after that when the protests got molded to other issues, and we began losing our freedoms. The final push? When even our fake money system is abandoned for all-digital money, there will be no way to not be controlled 24/7 by the Deep State without being a criminal.
Conspiracy Theory? Perhaps. That doesn't mean that any of these thoughts are invalid.
This would be an awkward outcome for the deep state team. The reason being that Comey getting fired was the trigger for appointing Mueller. If it turns out that Comey is prosecuted for criminal misconduct then him being fired looks pretty solid. And yet Mueller would still be empowered to search for gremlins and leak all over the place. There's an optics problem there. And DC is all about optics.

I think Andy McCarty sounds like he has a better explanation of what is going on with the deep state and Trump, but Gowdy says what he believes. OK. I don't understand why he went on all the corporate media shows, arguably giving the Obama FBI/DOJ too much approval for what some of their people have done, and giving the corporate media obvious anti-Trump talking points.
I hope I am misinterpreting what he said.

How about pressing charges, investigation by the DOJ, et,c Talk to cheap , very cheap in this case,and I for one am sick of this crap. Do something about all of the DOJ, FBI, Comey Clinton, Jarrett etc.
