CNN's Jake Tapper on Tuesday weighed in on the Trump-Kim summit arguing that other presidents did not meet with North Korean leaders to avoid giving their dictatorships prestige.
It's not as if other presidents couldn't have done this, Tapper said of Trump's historic meeting with the North Korean leader. It's that they didn't want to.
Tapper, the host of CNN shows The Lead and State of the Union, prefaced his comments that past presidents decided not to meet for direct talks with North Korea because the concern was, you don't want to give North Korea that kind of prestige.
You don't want to elevate them without having something guaranteed in terms of what they are actually willing to do, in terms of denuclearization, in terms of what Secretary of State Pompeo constantly refers to as irreversible and verifiable denuclearization.

Tapper's comments come after President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday announced an agreement committing the U.S. to undesignated security guarantees in exchange for North Korea denuclearization.

Not only did all those past presidents not want to engage N Korea, they also didn’t want to lower taxes, reduce regulations, approve massive projects, build a wall to protect the southern border, and fight unfair trade advantages our trading partners enjoy. But they all COULD have done it. Honestly...they COULD have done it.
I believe it was Condi who first announced what the hell they were doing.
If Trump had gone to war to remove Kim, Jake Tapper would have denounced him as a belligerent warmonger.
No matter what Trump did, he couldn’t win. The fake news media won’t give him any credit because it pains them to have to admit he’s smarter than them and he gets things done.
Like cleaning up the Korean mess that other Presidents refused to tackle. He removed that danger and Jake can’t bring himself to acknowledge its a good thing, indeed.

You don't ignore nuclear threats, either.
Sorry to hear that your resume for the job of Secretary of State was rejected, Jake
Jake and Bob Cirker and all the rest of the cabal
NOBODY thought progress could be made, Tapper. Including you!
Tapper. LOL
I didn’t hear Tapper complain about Obama showering Castro with unwarranted prestige...
Leftists make great dancers because they are experts at spin maneuvers.
Then, having watched Trump cancel a meeting with NK, Tapper decides to state the obvious condition for a meeting albeit sweetened with an impossible-to-achieve guarantee, perhaps only to show Trump didn't really pull off anything big:
You don't want to elevate them without having something guaranteed in terms of what they are actually willing to do, in terms of denuclearization
This is an excellent public display of a senior political analyst with a major news provider being way behind the power curve of current events; an example that could be studied at the high school debate team level.
Or the grativas
Other presidents found it easier to just give all our enemies money and get nothing in return.
Somewhere on a park pond in the USA there is a gaggle of geese that has more brains that Jake Tapper.
Tapper shows off his single digit IQ. What a maroon.
Do they ever replay these clips and reflect on how much damage they are doing to their credibility when they say stuff like this?
