Less than one week before the California primary, Google listed Nazism as the ideology of the California Republican Party.
In the knowledge panel that provides easy access to information next to search results, Google listed Nazism as an ideology of the party. The word Nazism was hyperlinked to a secondary page that shows Nazism alongside other ideologies of California Republicans like Conservatism, "Market liberalism, Fiscal conservatism, and Green conservatism."
California voters have been casting their absentee ballots for weeks ahead of the next Tuesdays statewide primary elections which will help determine the majority in the House of Representative and the potential next Governor of the worlds fifth largest economy.
But voters looking for information by searching California Republicans or California Republican Party were getting Nazism next to their search results until Google took the listing down Thursday after a query from VICE News.
These people have no shame.
Shocked! Shocked I am!
They have defenses for this sort of thing yknow.
Gosh were awfully sorry - and thatll be the end of it.
Liberals are evil.
“The intern did it.”
That’s why I never use “Google”. I switched to “Duck Duck Go” and “Bing” a long time ago. Works just as well, IMHO.
I do use “Google Images” for my “memes” photographs, but that’s all.
I recently read in what appeared to be a well sourced article, that Hitler actually used the principles of the Democrat Party’s Jim Crow laws and Margaret Sanger’s eugenics in his persecution of Jewish people. So, the primary principles of Nazism are the U.S. Democrat Party.
That goes right along with the whole low IQ thing
I’m no fan of Google. But this is FAKE NEWS. Google often automatically links to Wikipedia for information. And that’s the case here.
But Wikipedia can be edited by literally anyone. And that edit appears instantly. And unless Wikipedia is quickly alerted, an incorrect edit can remain for weeks.
Let me give you an example. Awhile back I was reading the Wikipedia entry on Admiral Grace Hopper (a very remarkable woman). The article mentioned that Hopper was a WW I flying ace.
That was certainly not true, as Hopper was born in 1906. Some wag had edited her biography, just trying to be funny. I alerted Wikipedia, and the article was corrected.
The same kind of thing certainly happened here. Some provocateur edited the CA GOP entry to include “Nazi”. And someone else just happened to get a screen capture.
Google’s only crime here is relying on Wikipedia.
From the article is sez “GOOGLE’s information box”, not Wikipedia
the funny thing is your typical CAGOPer is pretty much a democrat in the rest of the country.
An honest source would be more likely to link the “National Socialist German Workers’ Party” to today’s socialist workers’ parties. That would be the democrats and others that call themselves “progressives” because they still pretend to see movement toward the totalitarian ideology of 1800s communism as progress.
“Awhile back I was reading the Wikipedia entry on Admiral Grace Hopper (a very remarkable woman).
She spoke at one of my kids’ college graduation back in the mid 80s-——a delightful speaker.
.
Seems defamatory and legally actionable to me.
Yes, and the tattoo system for inventory developed by IBM with a lot of reference to Henry Fords books about Jews.
German Naziism had a lot of their ideology and beliefs borrowed from Ameran progressives.
Yep, apparently we are all a bunch of Nazi’s..I will notify some of my grandmother’s relatives that died in the Holocaust of this breaking news..to the left, you don’t agree with them, you are a Nazi, meanwhile, the left DESPISES Israel and would wipe them off the planet tomorrow if given the chance
That’s exactly what I do. I also use Google maps...
Conservatism, “Market liberalism, Fiscal conservatism,
How stupid could someone be to associate any of these enlightenment ideals with Nazism?
