RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - The dress code at Kickback Jacks has some customers a little upset.
The sign is bogus, said customer Zaena Graham. I think its a bunch of rubbish.
The sign posted inside its restaurant lists the dress code and behavior requirements. The list starts off prohibiting negative attitudes, offensive language, and any attire containing profanity.
In a family atmosphere other than just a sports bar, I think profanity should be restricted in any public place, said John Baucom, a customer.
The first part sounded OK, but it just got, to me, more discriminatory, said Laurie Washington, who was eating at the restaurant with her husband, Thomas Washington.
The dress code goes on to say no low-hanging pants or shorts, no plain white T-shirts, and no excessively baggy attire.
Laurie and Thomas Washington believe it has a racial undertone and is offensive to them.
Thats typically, younger African-American type attire, said Laurie Washington.
Baucom said not having the policy could be offensive to others.
The way they wear their pants and exposing certain parts of skin or whatever, I think that should be a managers discretion as far as offensive to other people, he said.

No it is low class like wifebeaters when out in public.
I might have to visit it when I hit North Carolina next weekend (For the Coke 600).
No kids loudly watching something on an Ipad.
A memory from the 90s...
Almost everybody, including me, ducked when steam popped a kid’s balloon as we all were going thru the line at Morrison’s cafeteria.
Laughter followed... but not until we figured out what the hell it was.
HIS BUSINESS, HIS RULES.
Don’t like it? Don’t go.
“I would say that a plain white t-shirt is preferable to the logo tees that a lot of people wear, with various offensive slogans and pictures on them.”
I would say that the plain white is as offensive as most of the slogans and pictures.
Any time I think of a STILETTO, I think of a narrow bladed knife.
Of course I am probably from an older generation than you are.
In a lot of areas plain white tee shirts ARE gang attire.
:looks down at her plain white baggy t-shirt:
I am a gang member? The International Order of the Cheese Makers?
They take Tony away and leave us some dique-polishing pansy like Jimmy Kimmel et al...
Gotta wonder sometimes.
I detest the use of undergarments as an outer garment. I don't even use white t-shirts for work around the house. There is a Midwest builders store named Menards that will have sales of t-shirts with their name on them and you can purchase them for two or three dollars, sometimes free with a rebate.
When I am back home in Michigan I purchase those and use them for my work shirts. They are cheaper and not underwear.
It seems others think of the same. This mind having been bombarded these past weeks with the news of First Lady Melania’s stilettos (the shoes on her feet) and the STILETTOS which were thought to be on the list of no-nos. Two minds on opposite sides of the fence. BTW - you can’t be that many generations older than I :-) More than likely it’s that awful “gender issue” ;-) Thanks for your reply.
My wife's and my home cooking is pretty darned good and my wife, being half Japanese, learned all sorts of great oriental cooking from her mother. I always thought that Five Star restaurants were probably no better than our cooking until I was on a business trip to southern Belgium.
On a Friday after a week of work some of the Generals and Colonels dragged me over the border and we went to Paris, France for a weekend. They took me to a Five Star restaurant and the food I had there was the best I have EVER eaten. I liked food and relished good food because I knew what it was like to eat C-Rations and live bugs in Survival School and I thought food was as much for sustenance as enjoyment. That Five Star restaurant was like eating something directly from heaven.
Are they actually members of the aggrieved group, or is this OBP?*
*(Offense by proxy)
You have good taste!
The white T’s can be used to hide a weapon. The stilletoes can be used as a weapon. This place is not in Durham, but in Garner, which is the southeast side of Raleigh.
“The white Ts can be used to hide a weapon.”
I don’t get that. Seems like a white T-shirt would be the worst choice for hiding a weapon.
“food I had there was the best I have EVER eaten”
What did you have?
Agreed.
-—discriminatory——
Discrimination is all about making choices and is the very basis for our society.
The customer code is a poison pill for detritus
