WASHINGTON Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is among a handful of Republican senators expected to attend the controversial opening of the new American Embassy in Jerusalem on Monday, his office has confirmed.
The trip comes roughly five months after President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and announced plans to relocate the U.S. Embassy there from Tel Aviv.
Cruz, who has long called for such a move, praised the decision as courageous and heroic. But many Arab and European leaders slammed Trump for upending a decades-old foreign policy in which U.S. presidents declined to weigh in on the contested city, leaving the issue to be resolved in peace talks between Palestinians and Israelis. Both groups claim Jerusalem as their capital.
Cruz will be joined by Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina

Don’t get between Linda and a camera; you’re going DOWN!
Some manly men in that picture!
Go go Gadet Beta Boys!
That’s good. Canada will be represented.
All the FReepers above (through post 8, anyhow) are being jerks for attacking one of the mere handful of Senators who are actually giving wholehearted support to Trumps agenda. I guess counterproductive low-thinkers will always be amongst us.
Im ashamed more senators arent there. It takes a bit of nerve to face the possibility of Arab mischief, and it looks like only four have it.
yes you make a good point.
We need allies wherever we can find them, on various issues.
And let’s be realistic enough, to know that we will get support on some issues but not some others.
And let’s not bash supporters on one issues, who for whatever reason didn’t offer support on something else, if they are with us on the issue of the day.
Didn’t Reagan say something, to the effect that, if someone supports you 80% of the time, that person is an ally, one from who you want to cultivate support, not denigrate them for the times they didn’t support you?
Didn’t Reagan also say something, to the effect that, you don’t always get everything you want, but if you can get half of what you want, by cultivating support, that’s better than nothing?
Maybe I mixed some metaphors, and sorry if I did. But I hope everyone gets what I’m getting at.
I guess then that Beto O’Rourke is staying in TX in his bid to unseat Cruz, who may not realize how mobilized are the Democrats against him.
Some have said this is an “unforced error”, that moving the embassy is needlessly antagonizing the Arab/Muslim world.
Which makes me think, the media and liberal types, are hoping for violence to break out over this embassy issue. They would welcome violence, so they can bash Trump over this.
What no Glenn Beck?

Exactly!
Ted Cruz has been a consistent outspoken supporter of Israel for his entire public life.
Let me add my two bits of New York values: these are the last two senators I’d like representing the prez in Israel.
"upending a decades-old foreign policy" = DNC talking point.
Thanks conservative98.
Good! Glad to see that Lindsey Graham is going too. I dont like either one of them a whole lot, but its good to see that theyre doing this. Give credit where credit is due.
I’ll plant a tree if they’ll take McCain along, and leave him there.
