The Arab nations voted against the partition resolution in the GeneralAssembly, and never accepted the results of the UN vote. The Arabs had never accepted the idea of a Jewish-majority state in any part of historic Palestine, and began a campaign of violence against the Zionists the very night the resolution was passed. During World War 2, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, holed up in Berlin, encouraged Adolf Hitler to turn his death machine against the Jews in Palestine while the Nazis were working to murder all the Jews in Europe. During the British mandate period, the Arabs had rejected earlier partition plans more favorable to them, such as the 1938 Peel Plan, because it allowed a tiny Jewish state to be created. In essence, the Arabs had fought Zionism for half a century, and were determined to deal t he Jewish state a knockout blow as soon the British left in May 1948.

...historic Palestine...
Historic? A blink of an eye “historic” compared to Israel, which was there 3,000 years before so-called Palestine was created out of whole cloth!
Hitler used all sorts of lies to justify invading other countries, like the incident on the Polish border with German soldiers dressed in Polish uniforms in 1939. It has never worked for the Palistinians.
They won’t care. They’re marxists first, Jews when it’s expedient.
Thanks rktman.
No problem. Not sure where I got the idea to read the series though. LOL! Muat have seen it mentioned someplace and Mrs. rktman found it on ebay I think.
I’m Jewish, and her appeal to ANYONE has always baffled me!
Ah, and they brought Webb’s daughter along for the acculturation. How nice!
Yes, there is a good chance Arafat’s mother was related to the Mufti, but Arafat was also born in Cairo, and his father’s family can be traced in Egypt for 150 years before that time. Therefore I consider Arafat more Egyptian than anything else.
It is somewhat murky. Cousin, nephew something.
Nothing on earth looks more stupid than westerners dressing up like camel jockeys because they are such throwbacks they can’t otherwise have a woman around.
At the high water mark for the Nazis in WWII, when they were in the Caucasus Mountains and on the outskirts of Alexandria, there was talk of Rommel marching through Egypt and the British Mandates to link up with the Eastern Front armies. Had that happened I have little doubt Hitler would have brought the Holocaust to Palestine and the Grand Mufti and his henchmen would have bathed in blood.
Agreed!
Thanks Civ
There are NO Palestinians. There has never been a nation, country or region called Palestine ruled by a people who called themselves Palestinians. It’s a false ethnicity claimed by a bunch of ne’er-do-wells who’ve been evicted from all the surrounding countries for being bad house guests.
The Emperor Vespasian renamed Samaria and Judea to Palestine after he put down still another Jewish rebellion (the Hebrews didn’t like being told they had to worship the Roman emperor) and tore down the second Temple of Solomon in ca. 73 AD. He renamed the region to something they would find offensive just to add a little insult to the injury. But it was never ruled by anyone who called himself a ‘Palestinian’ and no Arabs decided to call themselves “Palestinian” until after Israel won the 1967 6-Day War.
The Hebrews were in command of Judea and Samaria for a thousand years before the Arabs made up their religion.
The people referred to in the Bible as “Philistines” — whose name gives rise to the Arab term — weren’t even Arabs, were not sons of Shem, they were Hamites, sons of Ham, seafarers, probably from around the Aegean Sea and probably were Phoenecian. Completely unconnected to the modern ‘Palestinians.’
"There were no such thing as Palestinians. When was there an independent Palestinian people with a Palestinian state? It was either southern Syria before the First World War, and then it was a Palestine including Jordan. It was not as though there was a Palestinian people in Palestine considering itself as a Palestinian people and we came and threw them out and took their country away from them. They did not exist." -- Golda Meir
Why there is no Palestine
"...[P]rime minister Ehud Barak offered Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian people everything they wanted a Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip and some 98 percent of the West Bank, with east Jerusalem as their capital and compensation for the Palestinian refugees. To the worlds surprise and president Clintons shock and dismay, Arafat turned down Baraks offer without even making a counter-offer, after which Palestinian terror in the form of the second intifada soon followed.
"The Palestinians were given essentially everything they asked for, yet did not accept the Israeli offer for peace and the creation of a Palestinian state. Why would the Palestinians have turned down an offer for everything they said they wanted? The answer is actually quite simple because what the Palestinians and Yasser Arafat told the Western world they wanted was not in reality what they wanted. The Palestinians did not just want a Palestinian state in the Gaza and West Bank, but a Palestinian state in all of Israel. They wanted and still want all of what they term Palestine, from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River, with there being no Jewish state in between.prime minister Ehud Barak offered Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian people everything they wanted a Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip and some 98 percent of the West Bank, with east Jerusalem as their capital and compensation for the Palestinian refugees. "Before the Balfour Promise, when the Ottoman rule ended, Palestine's political borders as we know them today did not exist, and there was nothing called a Palestinian people with a political identity as we know today...." -- Arab historian Abd Al-Ghani Salameh
