[history]
Back in October, President Donald Trump blocked the release of hundreds of records on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, agreeing to appeals from the CIA and FBI.
Now, Trump has accepted a recommendation from the National Archives to keep the lid closed, more than five decades after the 35th president was killed.

What National Security interests are still at risk more than 50 years after the crime? All this does is fuel the theories that the Alphabet agencies were involved.

National Security?
Not building the Wall and patrolling it is a stark demonstration of a lack of concern for National Security. JFK papers? Not so much.

This will only add to the conspiracy thinking that the CIA/FBI/LBJ were involved in knocking of JFK. The question though....is why?

The Conspiracy Theory it makes seem more suspicious are the ones involving who was in Dallas that day and is still alive.

If I were Trump and I were actively engaged in a power struggle with the FBI and some of its former employees, I wouldn't mind having the ability to declassify information that embarrasses the agency when I deemed it necessary.
Maybe he is preserving some of his leverage

I think the documents might tend to suggest that somehow the Soviets were involved. I’ve suspected that all along.

Congress ordered in 1992 that all records be released in 25 years to put consistent conspiracy theories to rest.
incomplete statement by the AP
per wiki:
The Act requires that each assassination record be publicly disclosed in full and be made available in the collection no later than the date that is 25 years after the date of enactment of the Act (which was October 26, 2017), unless the President of the United States certifies that: (1) continued postponement is made necessary by an identifiable harm to the military defense, intelligence operations, law enforcement, or conduct of foreign relations; and (2) the identifiable harm is of such gravity that it outweighs the public interest in disclosure.

EVERYTHING should be released.
We need a constitutional amendment requiring ALL government information to be released, unredacted, after a few years.

President Trump is not going to release the documents that prove George Herbert Walker Bush participated in the assassination of JFK while GHWB is alive.

Exactly. If an assassination more than 50 years ago is still a national security issue today, it tells me that it was a coup, probably orchestrated by the CIA to put LBJ in charge so he would escalate the Vietnam War. That would mean that EVERY law and EO and regulation put into place by the LBJ administration would be unconstitutional and void.

What would be the harm of revealing that LBJ was behind it now after all these years?
Arethey gonna wait till everyone who was involved is dead and can’t be charged?

The only thing that might still need to be protected from the JFK assassination would be the reputation of US government agencies, or high government officials from that era.
Disappointed that Trump agreed to continue hiding any information.
