North and South Korea are preparing to officially end the war when their two leaders - Dictator Kim Jong-Un and President Moon Jae-in - meet next week.
The two Koreas are technically still at war as the 1950-53 Korean conflict ended with a truce, not a peace treaty.
South Korean media reports that the two sides had been discussing plans for a permanent end to the war at the North-South summit, citing an unidentified Seoul official.

And did we spend more dollars in the war, or since the end of the war?
I’m tired of being Europe’s military.
P.S. F Turkey.
No they won’t, because this is going to turn bad.
Current Canadian ...
...formerly proud of my country.
Hahahahahaha!
That will be another one for Dorkbama. He laid the ground work for this, you know.
Just busting your chops. :)
When I see the “our” or the s instead of z, I know you’re not American.
So when does Trump get the peace prize?
Is the course up at Camp Casey still open? I spent a lot of time on that one.
We spent mad coin and S Korea and they rewarded us by electing progressives. Fine. They can become comfort women again.
Yup. The “Indian Head” course is still open.
“Wonder if this means that we get to close Humphreys, Casey, Hovey, Red Cloud, Osan etc etc etc. However, before we go, Id like to see SOCOM go into the DRPK, find Pak Chul and off him.”
Not sure if Camp Humphreys is going anywhere, they just spent $Bs upgrading it. Its the largest overseas American military installation in the world.
If true, this would not only be historic, it would be mind-blowing.
As another poster has said, this would not be happening without Donald Trump being president.
This area of the world had pretty much been given up on by administrations of both parties.
Wrong citizenship too.
When people in hell get ice water?
They call him Hitler and are always telling us that he is gonna start WWIII. So...no.
“All those troops might make the island tip over ..”
THAT GIRL COULD MAKE THE ISLAND TIP OVER!
I don't disagree with that. But our overseas troops are more spread out now. They are generally a deterrent to bad behavior by our adversaries. That's not to say things would immediately go to hell without us being there, but over the long run trouble would be more likely if we weren't there.
Hell, we’ll be there another 50 years.
For those that don’t know;
Lt. Pak Chul (”Lt. Bulldog,” who commanded North Korean soldiers in the confrontation that led to the August 18, 1976 Axe murder incident) was one of those rumored killed in the November 23, 1984, Soviet Defector Incident firefight, though documentation has not been found yet. However, he has not been seen in the JSA since this incident. Additionally, there were gunshots in the north approximately 20 minutes after the cease fire was effective, and it was reported by senior members of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission to the JSF commander that the KPA commander and one of his key subordinates were summarily executed. The KPA commander was likewise never seen again, however no evidence is adduced for these claims.
The Korean War is about to be officially over.
Amazing what happens when someone other than a complete idiot is negotiating for the US.
Leading from behind? LMAO.
Wow.
The media will portray this as something Obama was working on.
