A prominent LGBTQ rights lawyer died after setting himself on fire in Brooklyn's Prospect Park on Saturday. David Buckel, 60, killed himself after sending messages to multiple news outlets including The New York Times claiming his intentions to set himself on fire to protest the world's usage of fossil fuels at the expense of the environment.
"Pollution ravages our planet, oozing inhabitability via air, soil, water and weather," Buckel wrote the Times in an email. "Most humans on the planet now breathe air made unhealthy by fossil fuels, and many die early deaths as a result - my early death by fossil fuel reflects what we are doing to ourselves."
"A life of privilege requires actions to balance the harm caused, and the greater the privilege, the greater the responsibility," Buckel added.
"For if one does not leave behind a world better for having lived in it, all that remains are selfish ends, sometimes wrapped in family or nation."

Considering the likely damage, hurt and pain this Homosexual lawyer has caused to others and our society as a whole, I am glad he’s dead. Hopefully, this will become a trend.
LOL wondered where the term came from.
They don't. But this suicide was probably more about personal depression than about any great cause. In Buckel's mind, the cause justified what we was going to do anyway.
Prayers for a deeply disturbed soul.
Finally some good news!
Liberalism is a mental disease and it should be classified and delt with as such.

I have heard that he may have had AIDS as well, and may have ended himself before the various effects did.
Some problems just have a way of working themselves out.
:)
There's a relationship between depression and obsessional thinking.
It never was an immediate death sentence. The effects of HIV infection are slow and occur over years. There are cases where people find that the virus has become adapted such that the medications are no longer effective, either after a while or earlier on. I have heard that some of the side effects of the medication used can be a real b#&! As well. I suspect some serious depression with some kind of awful event whether a relationship breakup from hell or something unfortunate happened which broke him on top of his already big issues with depression.
Revisit.
