US President Donald Trump has tweeted that Russia should "get ready" for missiles to be fired at its ally Syria, in response to an alleged chemical attack near Damascus on Saturday.
"Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and 'smart!'" Mr Trump said in his tweet.
Senior Russian figures have threatened to meet any US strikes with a response.
President Bashar al-Assad's government denies mounting a chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Douma.
In one his tweets on Wednesday, Mr Trump called the Syrian leader a "gas killing animal".
In another, he painted a dark picture of US-Russia relations but said it did not have to be that way.
The US, UK and France have agreed to work together and are believed to be preparing for a military strike in response to the alleged chemical attack at the weekend.

The more I think about this the more it sounds like the stupidest tweet he could put out there. First it’s the wrong thing to do and second what about “I never telegraph my moves”.
My hope is, this is all Kabuki Theater that’s being coordinated between Washington and Moscow, for internal consumption.
“Let them sort it out.”
That’s what’s happening!! Trump is finally the president to give them the freedom from us to do it. Keep up with what’s actually going on over there. Why do you think Trump’s first trip was to the Gulf states? Have you forgotten what he said when he was there?? Do you keep up on what’s happening between Trump and MbS?? You should so you aren’t looking at a 21st century mid east through 20th century eyes.
Art of the Deal.
Just like Israel thought they were so clever when they created Hamas and now have for a few decades now had to deal with Hamas as a worse threat than what they thought they were countering.
Likewise, blow-back on the Saudis and Israelis (probably to a more limited extent, the US as well) is going to be bad enough to make whatever they thought they'd gain seem pretty worthless by comparison.
If nothing else, they pushed things to the point that it will be Turkey, not Syria, that ends up with the final say in whether a pipeline through Syria is safe enough to be workable. That, in and of itself, puts them in a worse position than they were in before they started this crap.
Excellent compilation, thanks.
So we launch missiles at the Assad regime and that’s letting them sort it out? So we launch and there’s no response? Come on..
Trump should go to capital hill and demand a declaration of war against Syria. This would give Trump war powers to act. Draft an army, build the wall, occupy California, Take ships out of mothballs, instute rationing, control the internet—seize newspapers. Arrest traitors (Ie Hillary, Obama, McCain, etc...) Congress would have to backtrack war talk-not wanting to give Trump these powers to use as he likes.
“Trump has succumbed to the lure of being a “war president.”
You know when women get to be governors they try to dispel the myth of women being nurturing and nonviolent (sorry Ma Barker and the women who killed their own young children or husbands and those who are Planned Parenthood supporters—didn’t mean to offend you). Pres.Hillary or Kamela or Eliz.Warren—God forbid!—would threaten war and wear a soldier’s helmet and carry a riding crop all the time once they got into office.
Let’s hope Trump isn’t trying to look and feel tough. Civil war in Iraq and Afghanistan plus years of American bloodshed equals continuing civil war as before we went in. American intervention plus $3.99 buys a gas station latte.
Sure. Neither wants a strong Iran, and for Israel, they especially don't want to see a Hezbollah victory.
Yep.
President Trump looks gullible here. I thought he was smarter and more logical.
‘Foreign Policy by Viral Video’: Tucker Rips ‘Talk Show Generals’ Calling for War in Syria

It was his foreign policy during the campaign that first attracted me to Trump.
I hope #1 is the winner.
Tactical move. Makes em. nervous.
Right on. Now that we’re oil independent, why fight for Saudi oil?
Like we look the other way with Saudi Arabia and China.
That sums it up.
The Saudis want Assad out so they can build a pipeline from the Gulf to Europe.
Assad is in the way.
Russia does not want the competition.
They supply most of Europe’s natural gas.
