President Trump looks gullible here. I thought he was smarter and more logical.
We can always hope that just like when Trump sent several carrier groups towards NK while the democrat and media crowd cheered, Trump had someone quietly making a deal with the Norks that seems like a real hope for a long term deal between NK and SK.
Maybe he's quietly making a deal with Russia and Syria behind the scenes. If not, he really is gullible, the permanent government crowd have found his hot button issue, and from now on they can lead him around like a bull with a ring in his nose until he falls for a setup and they go for impeachment based on his being unbalanced.
Russia taking a tougher line is actually a glimmer of optimism to me because it's what I'd expect if Trump and Putin were talking and getting along towards a deal of some sort.
I think Trump is smart enough to be playing it that way but don't really have a feel for what the odds of him doing the same thing over Syria are. In Korea, the South Koreans were dead set against it while in Syria the only "friends" we have to consider would be Turkey and Israel neither one of which is the least bit concerned about what's good for the US, only about what's good for them.
The Turks are on the way out of NATO and Israel pours hundreds of millions of dollars into US politics to get the the people who created and live in the swamp into power. There's no "ally" in Syria for us to care about one way or the other. If we go after Syria for one abstract reason or another we just help to ensure that the swamp critters in DC keep getting fed and well cared for.
