The pot industry panicked when U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions ended the governments hands-off policy on weed. Today, it can breathe a bit easier as former Republican House Speaker John Boehner joins the advisory board of U.S. cannabis producer Acreage Holdings.

The announcement that Boehner and former Massachusetts Governor William Weld will advise Acreage, a private company, should send shockwaves throughout the industry and act as a positive catalyst for the sector as a whole, Ajamian said.
Boehners move marks a fundamental shift for a man who said nine years ago he was unalterably opposed to legalization, and indicates that pot is increasingly supported by the American establishment even if the Attorney General still believes good people dont smoke marijuana.

Seems like his drunkenness has gotten the better of him
Boehner said this as he fell off his bar stool.
“The State of Maryland approved medical marijuana this year. They are 37 legal dispensaries in the state. As a comparison, there are only 20 Motor Vehicle Administration offices in the state to get license plates. There simply cant be that many people in legitimate chronic need of cannabis.”
DMV is a very bad comparison since people rarely need to go. A better consideration is the fact that there are nearly as many pharmacies as food stores.
The bottom line is most people need medication as they get older and cannabis is useful for a wide variety of common ailments. It is far less toxic, less addictive and impairs less than many prescription pills that are sold on every corner. It can also be grown nearly for free by poor handicapped people. A free natural plant instead of giving absurd amounts of tax dollars to big pharma for their toxic, addictive pills like we do now. (Follow the money!)
The only reason they hold it back and call it the Devil is big pharma and booze $$$ that would be lost.
Unintentional pun detected?
That’s three of us that have changed our position on this. Him, Ben Shapiro and me.
And I have a feeling we all have the same attitude about recreational pot use.
Oh. I better look again. I thought it was an old photo of Bob Marley.
Boehner trading in the Marlboros and Jamison for blunts and Fanta. Reports from second hand direct observation at Jupiter Island GC he hangs out at is Boehner is consistently lit up like a Christmas tree 24/7.
I have several acquaintances that are cancer survivors. They are all HUGE proponents of medical marijuana. The results speak for them self.
Oh, and it is dirt cheap when you consider its effectiveness.
John Stoehner.
Okay. Now I see it. There is a certain resemblance, but that guy’s nose is different from Bob’s. And the reggae start was a bit lighter-skinned as well.
That's what's funny. We're all told (certainly here at FR) that booze kills and weed fulfills.
So they hire the best-known sot in D.C. to carry the banner?
I would imagine most earnest potheads will be a little pissed (no pun intended).
Now it just looks like the industry leaders are climbing into a car with at drunk at the wheel.
I have no problem with legalizing it, regulating it and taxing it. Its less destructive than alcohol......and no, I dont smoke weed myself.
My analogy is perfectly accurate. Citizens are required to use DMV and they are inconveniently located. Pot stores are also state controlled and are popping up everywhere.
Pot is not medically needed by several hundred thousand people. Those who claim so are insane.
Well done :)
Here’s a twist on the scene from the Godfather after Salatso first approaches the Don for the meeting to pitch his proposal:
Don: Santino, what do you think?
Sonny: There’s a lot of money in weed, Pop...
That’s what happens when you play “comedy with that young girl”.
Like Clinton and Bush discussing Mena Airport.
No there’s a blast from the past.
Freeper’s are like elephants, we never forget..
John Boner enjoys happy hours even more now.
