Rick Scott, Floridas popular governor, has a good chance of ousting a Democratic senator this fall. . . snip
Conservatives feel good about Scott taking his record to the voters this November. Ron DeSantis, a Republican congressman who is running to succeed Scott as governor, told me this weekend that Scott will also be able to pummel Nelson, the Democratic incumbent senator, for his votes against Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch and against the Trump tax cut. Grover Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform, says Scott can use the states prosperity to appeal to many voters who wouldnt normally be reachable. A recent Mason Dixon poll, for example, found that even 59 percent of Democrats think that the states economy is on the right track. Rick Scott signed and kept the pledge against raising taxes for eight years.
Even better, he cut taxes each and every year of his governorship, Norquist told me. He always put taxpayers ahead of the special interests, and thats a winning political formula.

The very vocal gun owners lobby are going to gun-grabber Rick Scott to shove his Senate bid up his ass!
When will RINOs learn that gun-grabbers don’t get elected in the GOP?
“As far as NRAers, why would they vote for Nelson?”
They won’t vote Nelson, they will stay home or vote for Donald Duck.
Scott or Nelson?
As a Fla voter and a NRA member, I would NEVER vote for Nelson. I have issues with both Rubio and Scott which means I could easily support another candidate but it would never be a RAT
Interesting how many people on FR forgot about all the anti gun legislation... more than Obama could get done.
Two top tier offices to help bring in the US House and state house etc.
It’s about time somebody calls out Senator Nelson for his ultra-liberal voting record. He is an Obama bot who voted for the “stimulus” package and Obamacare.
I don’t know what happens when they go to Washington, but “moderate” democrats from the Sunshine State go to Washigton and become progressives. Before Nelson we witnessed this with Lawton Chiles and Bob Graham.
Go to his website and try to take one of his surveys. They are worded in such a way that you cannot answer them without agreeing with his agenda.
Even with flaws, any Republican is better than Bill Nelson representing the Sunshine State. As a Floridian, I can’t wait for him to be voted out.
Rick Scott was buffaloed into violating the rights of thousands of legal, responsible Florida gun owners by a lying little toerag.
No thanks.
Too bad he's not as principled when it comes to gun control.
CONSERVATIVE TALKIES RESPONDING TO THE MEDIA’S WAR ON THE NRA, GUNS, AND THE 2ND AMENDMENT ONLY AIDS THEM IN CONCEALING THE POLICY FAILURES WHICH PERMITTED PARKLAND TO OCCUR
WAS PARKLAND AN IDYLLIC SCHOLASTIC SETTING OR A NIGHTMARE
Only an investigation will either dispel or prove that with those policies enforced. Students had all kinds of disciplinary problems (drugs, thefts fights etc) when attending classses there. Were scholastic standards lowered to fit fed DOJ grants ?
WHERE WAS THE DEMAND FOR FEDERAL AND STATE INVESTIGATIONS ????
It was not guns or the NRA Its policies which had cops standing outside while killing was going on or some nut getting a gun the FBI knew he wasnt suppose to... Plus a whole raft of other stuff
WAS THE DEMAND FOR STATE AND FED INVESTIGATION ON THE POLICIES WHICH CAUSED THIS NOT CONSIDERED BY FLORIDA POLS BECAUSE THE RESULT WOULD BE LAW SUITS AGAINST THE STATE ???

Ironically, another Scott, Gov. Phil Scott of Vermont, also folded like a dime store cardboard belt on the gun issue. What, are these two losers brothers? The minute the going got tough these two split. Not the kind you want to be in a foxhole with....they are called cowards.
IDIOCY...total IDIOCY!

I live part time in South Fla which is supposed to be enemy territory for Republicans and it is. But what Scott did during Irma and his handling of the Parkland muders has blunted the hatred toward him down here and this is a major factor.
This talk about Puerto Ricans flooding the polls in November might not be very important as other groups like White middle class Northeastern escapees continue to move to Fla.
One factor not touched on here or in the article is the damage the P R O M I S E program investigation that brought about the Parkland murders. The Fla AG Pam Bondi has been working on this since the week after the murders. There is no doubt that when she is finished her report will destroy the Democrat party in Broward and probably Miami Dade Counties. They are the number 2 and 3 most important Democrat counties in the state.
This scandal will reach up to Wasserman Schultz and other House Democrats in South Fla and may hit Nelson as well.
Scott wins; Desantis wins.
Good points ZULU, exactly as I feel.
Scott is not the darling of the GOPe in Fl either as those of us here know. As far as the assault vote, the bill was passed by a very GOP controlled legislature. What was he to do, veto it and have to run against his own party and the dems? We cannot afford to lose the senate, if scott wins I am confident he will support conservative SC judges. We MUST get two on their during Trump’s time or we can kiss 2A goodbye. It is called losing a battle but winning a war strategy IMO.
On the Gov side, Putnam is running a well funded campaign against Ron DeSantis so I am not sure he will be the nommonee. I will vote for him first over Putnam who seems to the the party choice.
I do live in Florida and this post is correct. I could give a rats ass about Scott at this point.
I would not call him very popular. I think pre gun control he had successfully turned the corner and won over a lot of sceptics. He did not exactly cruise to reelection over the turncoat Crist. Since then, I thought he did an excellent job with responsive, common sense government. Up until Parkland. Now, I am unlikely to vote for him. He rammed through horrible laws with horrible long term consequences. Not easily forgivable.
Rick Scott of Florida, Rick Snyder of Michigan and Larry Hogan of Maryland are the prototypes. Successful businessmen with no previous political experience governing states. They set the stage for Donald Trump.
I live in Maryland and Hogan is doing a pretty good job for being a middle right Republican in a hard left state. I lived in Michigan for almost 50 years and keep an eye on my home state. Snyder is doing well also. Don’t pay much attention to Florida.
I get to vote for him again! Great news. However, the Puerto Ricans in Orlando could be a problem.
Rick Scott is a moral coward.
Pressured by the David Hogg’s of America, he buckled like a wet tissue.
He WILL do the same in Congress.
Nelson already holds that seat.
We don’t need a coward like Scott, or a traitor lIke Romney attacking Trump from his own party.
I am not obtuse enough to not realize a RINO is far more dangerous than a Democrat.
