WASHINGTON, DC Professor Jonathan Turley, a top national legal expert on government investigations, commented on Thursday about Attorney General Jeff Sessions decision to bring in U.S. Attorney John Huber. Turley called it brilliantto combine all the powers of the U.S. Department of Justices inspector general with a prosecutor who can bring charges, seek indictments, and get results for President Trump far more quickly than a second special counsel.
Turley is a law professor at George Washington University, who attained national fame during the 1998 impeachment of President Bill Clinton as a top legal authority on special counsels and congressional investigations of government wrongdoing, including criminal wrongdoing. His reputation has only grown during the intervening 20 years, as he has weighed in on scandals and investigations of public officials from both political parties.

>>When the trap is sprung, Sessions or Huber will start announcing indictments of those caught in the IG investigation.<<
And, I think, not just those caught in the IG investigation. Prosecutor Huber has probably been pursuing investigations well beyond the iG investigation since Horowitz has undoubtedly uncovered several issues beyond the scope of his present email investigation.
For example, Horowitz just announced that he’d next be looking into the FISA court mess, but we’ve all known about that for months already and it’s likely that Huber has already been pursuing leaks, etc., that were related to the FISA un-maskings.
I don’t know that to be the case, but Huber would logically be pursuing any criminality he became aware of since his appointment.
>>To believe that no real action has been taken against Comey, Lynch, Hitlery, Podesta, et al because Sessions is a genius laying a trap, is the DUMBEST THING EVAH! ARE YOU ALL STUPID?<<
I’m perfectly willing to admit to stupidity if it turns out that Huber is just a pawn of Sessions, and that Sessions is a pawn of the deep state, and that no one goes to jail at the end of all this. I just don’t happen to believe that’s the case right now.
Are you similarly willing to admit to stupidity if it turns out you’re wrong, and Sessions and Huber turn out to have been doing an admirable job rounding up wrongdoers and sending them to jail?
The obvious answer is that we’re talking federal crimes being investigated by a federal prosector. Utah is part of the U.S. You’d have a case if the grand jury was selected in Canada, but not Utah.
I realize people are skeptical that Huber’s investigation will result in much at all. I’m on the other side on that one and expect the eventual indictments will shock the DC establishment.
But will they affect the Deep State? Because if they don’t, not much will change. In particular, the MSM will continue to remain united against the GOP and, particularly, against Trump.
So, in my opinion, the scope of the scandal(s) unveiled have to be momentous enough to shake the MSM’s allegiance to the Democrats and to liberal thinking generally. They have to experience their own personal shock at how badly they’ve been used to further express and obvious lawlessness. (Ideally, some of them will even go to jail for their personal part in carrying out that lawlessness.)
If the liberal press isn’t shaken to its core by the revelations and the resulting successful prosecutions, they will just double down and continue on until Dems are once again in control of the government. If nothing has been fixed by that time, buh-bye country as we know it.
This has to be earth-shaking enough to shake some sense into the liberal press, or at least into their readers and viewers. Whether that will be the case, well, I’m not all that optimistic. But I think they’re going to try, and we should all be hoping it happens.
“Are you similarly willing to admit to stupidity if it turns out youre wrong, and Sessions and Huber turn out to have been doing an admirable job rounding up wrongdoers and sending them to jail?”
You bet! I hope I’m wrong! I’d love to eat crow on this!
But I’m not.
Hillary, Lynch, Comey, Podesta all walk free. If the dems take the House they impeach Trump.
Thanks. Obvious? Maybe to some. My Federal practice was limited, but the general rule is that venue is proper where the crime ( or al least one ) overt act took place.
A crime ( or, for that matter, a civil action where the parties reside in CA) that occurred in the Central District of California, cannot be tried in Oregon.
Am I wrong? If so, please cite me to the relevant Federal Rule.
All of this will play out so it’s a matter of being patient now until the IG report is done.
Thanks Freedomlibertyjustice.
There we go! Now the prosecution of these criminals will proceed. I’m counting on those God-fearing Utah deplorables to bring this Obamination Gang to justice.
Good news indeed.
Aye aye. The Vikings were cruel in their time, but they understood the meaning of justice.
thanks - good whole thread
