Hillary Clinton is striking back at critics telling her to shut up following her 2016 loss, saying, They never said that to any man who was not elected.
I was really struck by how people said that to me you know, mostly people in the press, for whatever reason mostly, Go away, go away, Clinton said Thursday during an event at Rutgers University.
And I had one of the young people who works for me go back and do a bit of research. They never said that to any man who was not elected. I was kind of struck by that, Clinton said.
Clintons remarks came in response to a question from Eagleton Institute of Politics director Ruth Mandel about the former Democratic presidential nominees reaction to those who say she should get off the public stage and shut up.
Im really glad that, you know, Al Gore didnt stop talking about climate change, Clinton said to applause.
And Im really glad John Kerry went to the Senate and became an excellent secretary of State, the former first lady continued. And Im really glad John McCain kept speaking out and standing up and saying what he had to say. And for heavens sakes, Mitt Romney is running for the Senate, Clinton said.
The 70-year-old ex-secretary of State has taken heat in recent weeks, even among some Democrats, for comments she made about Americans who voted for President Trump in the 2016 race.
"I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward, Clinton said earlier this month during a conference in India. And his whole campaign, Make America Great Again, was looking backwards.
I think it was a moment in time because what had been expected to happen in the election, which obviously did not, Clinton said Thursday. And then a lot of angst and second guessing and finger pointing and everything that went on.
Reason:
Nope. Gore was not the biggest whiner.
That honor goes to John C Breckenridge.
In 1860, John C Breckenridge was the sitting VP.
JCB the split the democrat party into 2 factions.
He was nominated to run by the fire eater democrats.
He placed second in the electoral college behind Lincoln.
All of his States then seceded from the Union.
He was then appointed to the US Senate by a state.
From which he was evicted for TREASON when he became a Confederate General.
He then led an attack on an American city (Baton Rouge).
He eventually became the Confederate Secretary of War.
He then failed to help the Confederate government escape - but managed to escape himself with a few friends.
John C Breckenridge wins the biggest sore loser by a mile.
She refers to the others DOING something, not whining more than a year after their loss. She should have had her staff go back and see how long any of the others spent whining about their loss.
They all moved on, Hillary, they all moved on and didn’t put the public through your embarrassing, shameful display. Again, she’s blaming it on her gender. If only it would stop!
You are forgetting Al Gore....
Face it, sweetie, you lost because enough people realised that you’re more full of shiite than all the port a pottys on Daytona Beach at the end of Bike Week.
John McCain harbors a lot of bitterness, and his grudges run silent but deep. He hasn't gotten over not being elected President and never will. Neither will Jeb Bush, Al Gore or John Kerry. They all will go to their graves convinced that there was a grave injustice served and all have gone or are going sundry varieties of crazy. Al Gore has been the most visibly unhinged but I believe McCain to be literally driven nuts over it, not that he was the model of mental stability before. Some believe carrying around such bitterness and toxicity has health consequences. It's certainly not helpful with treatment and recovery from a cancer diagnosis.
Don’t forget Aaron Burr. He was even more twisted, since he was Jefferson’s running-mate and then after they got the same number of electoral votes, his opponent in the congressional voting that would determine the winner. Anyway, he was not happy with the result and what he did showed it.
Exactly...The Rats want her gone now, before this coming election but thank goodness I doubt she’ll accommodate them.
Bump!
McCain may be more bitter about losing to Bush in 2000 than to Obama in 2008.
Anyway, I guess the question now is to find a losing candidate who wasn't bitter.
Maybe somebody who never expected to win: John W. Davis or Alton E. Parker.
Oh come on. It'd be WAY more fun to watch her self-destruct from prison.
Why isn’t this criminal behind bars eating mild duds and potato chips.
Even funnier than that; the only people who want Hillary to shut up now are Democrats! LOLOLOL
That was when Gore still had a shot at winning.
After he lost hope, he went away for a while.
If Hillary believes men are never told to shut up she needs to read Free Republic. Mitt Romney and John McCain have been told to “shut up” in posts for years. During the last two years I’ve even seen some “shut ups” directed at George W. Bush, his father, and his brother Jeb.
It’s still her turn! Tell all your liberal friends! It’s STILL her turn!! Hillary 2020!
I remember the Sore/Loserman (Gore/Lieberman) poster.
> Barbara Bush tells her son Jeb to shut up all the time.
she said “man”
Mitt Romney doesn’t seem particularly bitter, he’s very cocksure that he’ll be President eventually. That prophecy thing, no doubt. He/s gonna ride in on a white horse and save the Constitution, lol, thinly veiled leftist that he is.
Cruz showed his @ pretty good too, come to think of it, all that wild behavior leading up to and during the Republican convention, that infantile stompy-feet speech refusing to endorse Trump and all. I can’t believe all the FReepers who give him a pass on that.
