Earlier today, Francis addressed the Conference of Rectors of German Language Seminaries, gathered in Rome.
The conference is taking place in the shadow of comments made by Cardinal Reinhard Marx, President of the German Bishops Conference, suggesting the possibility of blessing homosexual unions.
Those unfamiliar with this story would do well to read Maike Hickson, whose English language reporting on the activities of the Church in Germany is unparalleled.
As most readers likely recall, in a recent interview, Cardinal Marx said:
This [decision to confer a blessing on homosexual couples] I really must leave up to the local pastor and the accompaniment of that person.
He went on to say that there cannot be any general rules on the matter.

Proud day Catholicism .... glad I am not a practicing Catholic, I would have left the Church a long time ago for its corruption, deviance, etc.
To hell with morals.
Gots to keep them homo’s donations coming in don’t ya know?
The Church has sold out for lucre’.
The fact that Cardinal Marx still retains his position, with virtually no castigation from Francis, is statement enough.
Instead, they corrected a very orthodox Benedict by the unprecedented move of firing him.
I will pray that this will be true but remember the papacy doesn’t have term limits. If the presidency were like the papacy, Obama would still be president. Further, aside from Trump and some sectors of the military, Washington DC is still infested with a Deep State invested in protecting the liberal status quo. Once Trump leaves, I worry Washington gets handed right back over to the people fighting for the liberal status quo whose god is government power.
I will pray too. You are correct about term limits, however, the limits that do exist are controlled by a higher power.
Have a great Easter.
“How long will Catholics follow this man?”
THAT’S the problem, Catholics follow a “man”.
Would Jesus approve of the idea of a pope? (Peter was NOT a “pope”)
“In claiming that the pope is the Vicar of Christ, the Catholic Church rejects the sufficiency and supremacy of Christs priesthood, and grants to the pope roles that Christ Himself declared would belong to the Holy Spirit. It is therefore blasphemy to ascribe to the pope the title of Vicar of Christ.”

He may want to believe he is uniting people in “pseudo-Christianity”, but he isn’t. He has no impact on others at all, because all he is doing is ignoring sins in which they may already engage; they will never join the Church.
that is true, plus, the headline was misleading as it could possibly be, complete with quotes from a queer loving German bishop.
The church has been through worse in 2000 years, at least he gets some press, even the members of the 25000 protestant denominations have no idea who even leads their church.
Well said.
The church has been through worse in 2000 years....
...
Very true. Prayers up for Holy Mother Church.
No, non-quotes aren’t statements, unless you’re CNN. This is a poorly-written article with an unsourced, misleading headline. It’s easy enough to find things Francis actually said that are objectionable without putting the words of others in his mouth.
