President Trump on Monday ordered the expulsion of 60 Russian intelligence officers in the United States and the closure of the Russian consulate in Seattle in response to the nerve agent attack on an ex-Russian spy in the U.K. earlier this month, senior administration officials said.
The steps, following Britain's expulsion of Russian diplomats, are meant to send a message to Moscow that actions have consequences, the officials said. The Seattle consulate is being closed because of its proximity to submarine bases, as well as Boeing.
With these steps, the United States and our allies and partners make clear to Russia that its actions have consequences, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said. The United States stands ready to cooperate to build a better relationship with Russia, but this can only happen with a change in the Russian governments behavior.
Russia, which has been blamed for the attack, has denied wrongdoing.
Officials said a total of 60 Russians are being expelled, including 48 at the Russian embassy and 12 at the United Nations. The individuals and their families have been given seven days to leave the United States.
"Today, the United States began the process of expelling 12 intelligence operatives from the Russian Mission to the United Nations who have abused their privilege of residence in the United States," UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said Monday. "After a review, we have determined that the 12 intelligence operatives engaged in espionage activities that are adverse to our national security."

I was unhappy with the appointment of the cold warrior warmonger Bolton and this is why.
If the UK wants to start a war with Russia over nothing, thats their problem. We need to stay the hell out of it. The UK are no true allies, nor are the EU.
We are moving closer to a Globalist Hell...

We resonate. Their quarrel is not our problem.
We cannot give up on Western Civilization! Poland and Hungary understand this more than anyone.
ChickenSoup,
I lived not only in Russia but the U.K. as well and spent bits of time in Italy, Greece, and Estonia. Estonia borders Russia and despite how small it is, pays fully their fair share into NATO.
Poo-poo on Europe all you want. Buy into all the scaremongering about Islam and globalists. (Likely from Russian propaganda designed to distract you from their own messes.)
Europe is waking up and Brexit was the first shot. Macron is not even that bad over in France.
Its RUSSIA that has the largest Muslim minority population in Europe and Putin funds some of the most radical ones to rule republics like Chechnya in his own country!
Its RUSSIA that is allied with Iran and defers to Palestinian interests, and makes nice with North Korea. Its RUSSIA whose oligarchs dominate the account holdings globali$t Western banking institutions...and you’re saying you want China and them to have more control over the world?
No!

My elder son served on subs coming out of Bremerton as a nuke.
Hiding the real actor in murder is one thing the Deep State has experience in doing, hiding the truth. I would not put anything out of the question for it.
Our real condition wrt the Ruling Class/Power Elite/Secret Team/Deep State is terrifying if you let yourself obsess about it.
Secret Power Centers have deep and diverse roots and murderous allies. You are correct about the almost absolute mind control which generally goes unnoticed. Our government has acted like a mafia for a long time basically unchecked. Who even knows what schemes are afoot? Not even the Director-McCord -was aware of the plots to kill Castro or the CIA-Mafia links to carrying out them.
I guess the evidence will be sealed for 50 years.
Once the name “Steele” was mentioned nothing about this can be believed at first sight, nothing.
Not unless his information is credible, after all this comes from our “Intelligence” sources shown to be regularly wrong.
which Communist?
We are in agreement on that point. I’m not giving up and I hope that Trump can turn things around here. I’m not holding out much hope for Western Europe, though.
On another note, what a horrific tragedy in Kemerovo. Many children and animals burned to death.
Unfortunately, there are some soulless people celebrating that tragedy.
Her name is Kshama Sawant. Former software engineer.
Well - she says she is the “Socialist” party, but to me that makes her pretty much a commie. I mean when you have to distinguish yourself to being to the left of a Seattle Progressive....
“I was elected by working people in Seattle to be a voice for raising the minimum wage, for affordable housing, and for taxing the rich to fund public transportation and public education.”
There are indeed alternate scenarios, but the British seem very certain this is a Russian inspired “hit”. May presented the evidence to an assortment of Western diplomats last Thursday and they are in agreement. It’s not just the USA expelling diplomats - twenty-one other countries are also taking action, including some of the larger EU nations, in spite of Britain not exactly being very popular with the EU at the moment.
Dangerous talk. If “their” quarrel is not “our” problem then you can hardly complain when “our” quarrels don’t become “their” problems, and you quickly find yourself out of allies completely.
Terrible what happened! I heard that the Pope even sent a telegram of condolences.
Took note that the Kemerovo mall was on *Lenin* Street. Much post-Soviet reflection left to be done...
Dangerous talk. If their quarrel is not our problem then you can hardly complain when our quarrels dont become their problems, and you quickly find yourself out of allies completely.

If you think that the EU is going to do much of anything that we cannot do ourselves and better, if we focus our finances and attention on gearing up defensively in all aspects, and police our borders so well that we don’t have to police all aspects of our citizens, then we heartily disagree.
Hungary and Poland are expelling Russians over the murder in the U.K. along with the rest of the EU.
No man is an island. No country is either (except geographically). You might think you can survive while ignoring everyone else, but you can’t.
Twenty-two in total now I believe. Australia just chucked a couple out.
