Trump orders expulsion of dozens of Russian diplomats, closure of consulate in Seattle

President Trump on Monday ordered the expulsion of 60 Russian intelligence officers in the United States and the closure of the Russian consulate in Seattle in response to the nerve agent attack on an ex-Russian spy in the U.K. earlier this month, senior administration officials said.

The steps, following Britain's expulsion of Russian diplomats, are meant to send a message to Moscow that actions have consequences, the officials said. The Seattle consulate is being closed because of its proximity to submarine bases, as well as Boeing.

“With these steps, the United States and our allies and partners make clear to Russia that its actions have consequences,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said. “The United States stands ready to cooperate to build a better relationship with Russia, but this can only happen with a change in the Russian government’s behavior.”

Russia, which has been blamed for the attack, has denied wrongdoing.

Officials said a total of 60 Russians are being expelled, including 48 at the Russian embassy and 12 at the United Nations. The individuals and their families have been given seven days to leave the United States.

"Today, the United States began the process of expelling 12 intelligence operatives from the Russian Mission to the United Nations who have abused their privilege of residence in the United States," UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said Monday. "After a review, we have determined that the 12 intelligence operatives engaged in espionage activities that are adverse to‎ our national security."

...the Seattle area...must be crawling with Russian Spooks.

And, there is good evidence they, along with U.S. Leftist supporters, have been at least since the early to mid-60's.

At stake was Russia's greater percentage of GNP investment in the Vietnam war than that of the U.S.; and, its anti-U.S. interests continue.

This probably would have happened, Bolton or No-Bolton, I would not lay the blame on John Bolton, this was in the pipeline already, indications were there previously.` We announced solidarity with UK last week about Wednesday, the talk of expelling Russian diplomats was already discussed Saturday.

Let’s not forget, “talk” has been Russia has supplied the Taliban over the past 2 weeks, I’m not here to argue whether that is true or not, read for oneself, the articles. Also, someone in the admin. said China was acting against North Korea but not Russia, that maybe they helped NK skirt sanctions.

Russia has their views, USA has our views, UK, EU has their views, nobody is trying to rag on Russia about this.

If we abandoned Saudi Arabia, a favorite scapegoat to the pro-Putin crowd, I’d bet my bottom dollar that Russia would come to their aid, never mind, Russia, Putin already make deals with Saudi Arabia, per investments.

The NSA has probably been monitoring these Russian spies since candidate Trump became our President.

Unlike 8 years under Obama of monitoring people like candidate Trump and those of us who voted for him.

A year ago there were Russian consulates in New York City (2), San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C. Now there are Consulates only in New York City and Washington D.C. Facilitates the counter-espionage work.

Bolton is not a warmonger. Don’t spew that garbage. He has always had America’s interests in mind especially combatting the UN. Get a grip!

The Russians had no reason to poison that spy. The democrats had every reason to poison him. False Flag. Fake News.

Seattle has a nuclear sub base. Access and egress through the sound. Doesn’t surprise me they have intelligence speaking operatives there.

“” “” Before I went to Russia: I had a far more neutral even positive-leaning view the country’s leadership and overall post-Soviet direction. (Despite knowing it is no democracy.)

One lives there, and learns. Despite its modern and even religious facades, the “evil empire” spirit is alive and well. The Soviet Union only collapsed territorially, not in spirit - and the tsarist past haunts the place.”” “”

Rose Luxemburg, is it you? One thing I like about your posts is these are resembling fiery speeches. Would sound much better live and not in a written form. That combined with gestures and angry facial expressions. You could make a great Bolshevik if born in a right time. Don’t you? :)

Bolton is not a warmonger. Don’t spew that garbage

When I’d see Bolton on Fox News, he would sound very much like “Hey, look, I’m a real man!” Lindsay Graham and that slavering hunk of worthless putrid crud otherwise known as John “hero” McCain.

Anyone seriously suggesting a pre-emptive attack on North Korea scares the hell out of me, and I’m not sure I’m comfortable with him having the President’s ear.

ON THE OTHER HAND . . . In this case, “having the President’s ear” doesn’t amount to much, since I’m 100% convinced DJT is going to do what HE wants, not what some advisor suggests to him. I was also impressed that, in his interview after getting the new National Security Advisor job, he came off as someone who understands that he’s there to facilitate the President’s wishes, not to promote his own, and that loyalty to the President (which means NOT LEAKING!) is important.

But the Trump camp, White House also discussed a pre-emptive attack on NK.

So, that’s not much of a talking point. A lot of people brought this up.

Wow. Makes it quite difficult for Russian nationals in the western part of the country, I would think, if they needed to visit a consulate. Is the operation in Washington a consulate? I thought it was designated the embassy, and that was a bit different.

“The Russians had no reason to poison that spy.”

They have no good reason to poison any of those who they hvae poisoned. Putin runs a terror-state and it is part and parcel of their foreign and domestic policy to do so.
