President Trump said Friday that construction of his promised border wall would start "immediately" after signing the omnibus spending bill, which included $1.6 billion in funding for the wall.
"We're going to be starting work literally on Monday," Trump said during an event Friday at the White House. "We have a lot of money coming to the border."
Trump had threatened earlier Friday to veto the spending bill Congress passed on Thursday because it did not include sufficient funding for the wall and because it omitted expiring protections for young, undocumented immigrants.

I will hope and pray that you are correct and truly appreciate your thoughts on a powerful subject. I am going to take a very deep breath and defer to the wisdom of you and others here and continue my faith that there is a plan at work bigger than I can see and understand right now.

So the military has about 600 billion in funding, and you think that if Trump takes 25 billion out of there it's going to result in the US military not having enough money to fend off ICBMs? WTF are you smoking?
You are very welcome. I am glad we were able to communicate. Faith is hard to find sometimes but I think faith in President Trump is based on the sum of his actions and not wasted.

Already saw one whining article from a "tax payers" organization complaining that Congress sneakily added an amendment allowing Trump to use military funds to build the wall. It doesn't appear this is a mere bluff.

Please don’t be a dumb @$$. There has never been an executive order declaring a national emergency signed by this president regarding the border.
Correct. That $1.6 Billion will not be used for the “WALL”.
But there is that $710 military funds appropriated. Do you see “No concrete & brick wall” in that military section?
If commander-in-chief decides a strong wall is necessary to defend the nation, who can pull rank on the POTUS?
This administration seems to understand something pretty big: short term "damage" is relatively unimportant when there is long term gain. That has been the pattern for a long time now, with things Trump said or did that pissed everybody off, then it turned out it really was just a bluff that resulted in long term gain.
The problem is that we have a lot of people here who are extremely ideological, very autistic, maybe anti-social personality disorder, who don't seem to understand the news cycle or how human beings actually work and behave.

I think they are mostly good folks who do not understand they are being manipulated by malignant forces they oppose.
The President can build any National Defense wall he desires. He does not need Congress. Separation of powers.
I say we won’t and shouldn’t spend $25B in one shot and $1.6B is at least a dang good start.
It would be time better spent .. the knives are out in here tonight ;-)
