am considering a VETO of the Omnibus Spending Bill based on the fact that the 800,000 plus DACA recipients have been totally abandoned by the Democrats (not even mentioned in Bill) and the BORDER WALL, which is desperately needed for our National Defense, is not fully funded.
I’m hoping that he has the competent support cabinet in place to warn him of the horrific flaws in this bill. VP Pence, are you listening?
Some Republicans have been kidding themselves for decades that they'll turn these recent Third World legals and illegals into Republican voters. It hasn't happened and it won't happen in the foreseeable future.
And, I think the Dims are more against an effective southern border wall, at present, than they are in favor of legalizing the DACAs and other illegals. The Dims also have their strategies. They plan to be back in power and then do whatever they want with a good amount of Rino help.
If Cruz were now president, we wouldn’t even be wondering IF he would veto.
Absolutely. C’mon Mr. President, DO NOT SIGN YOUR OWN DEATH WARRANT!
I loved Ted Cruz until I saw what a lying SOB he really was.. all talk grand-standing fraud.
He’s using DACA as another example of the dimwit congress.
Congress voted and then took off on a two week vacation. To overide they’d all have to come back to Washington and actually do something.
It gave me hope.
What's the evidence that it's been effective? Just because some illegals are mad at the Dims does not mean they'll be cheering the Republicans tomorrow.
It might, at some point, be effective in negotiating funding for a real border wall, but it's just noise today as there are many, many reasons to oppose this bill that can and should be pointed out.
Oh, so $25 billion wouldn't have fully funded it? How much is actually needed?
I hope so. If he signs this, the GOP will lose 50-100 seats, and his Presidency is effectively OVER.

Perhaps. But they did rally and protest outside of Schumer’s home in January - that’s a good start in turning them against the RATS, IMHO.
“The media and the Democrats will point out that a couple of weeks ago they had a compromise that took care of DACA and fully funded the wall but Trump threatened to veto it.”
I don’t remember any compromise that got enough votes in the Senate. There was no bill that would have passed the House. If a DACA bill was sent to POTUS and he vetoed it, I would see your point.
While I’m thinking about it, if Maddog Mattis threatens to quit over funding of the military, I would say hit the road. POTUS has broader responsibilities beyond C-I-C.
President Trump always does what he says he’ll do.. This is why he is a Great Leader!
It was significant to me at the time. When I heard HW Bush was going to break his pledge, I started screaming at the radio about what a fool he was, and how there was no upside to doing this, and it would cost him the next election.
I had the same response when I heard that George W Bush was going to allow Paul Bremmer to disband the Iraqi army and purge Bathe party members.
I realized that the most dangerous component of Iraq's population was the Sunnis who had been in power, and who had managed to subdue the larger Shite population. I interpreted this information as them being smarter and more ruthless when stirred to action, and so I thought they would be exactly the people whose cooperation you would want in stabilizing Iraq. They were the more dangerous of the two populations.
I thought the better methodology to deal with the Bathe party in Iraq (Basically all the Sunnis) would have been to borrow a page from the Allies when they set up provisional governments in Germany after WWII.
The basic approach was to inform everyone that anyone responsible for war crimes would be hung, but rank and file Nazi party members would be left alone if they caused no more troubles. They could keep their jobs.
The point was to secure cooperation from people who would otherwise fight and sabotage you if you didn't give them a reason to support reconstruction.
If we did this to stabilize Nazi Germany, and it worked effectively, then why would we try the opposite approach in Iraq? It was just stupid, and I couldn't understand how all those "War College" graduates in the Officer corps couldn't see what to me was quite obvious.
I think the bombs started going off three days after Bremmer made his announcement. I think in the first wave of bombings, they blew up a UN representative, and this effectively sidelined much of what would have been international support for the provisional government.
The whole thing was an all too avoidable disaster.
I hope they get their stinking vacation ruined. We need to have tar and feathers waiting for them.
