The universe has existed for billions and billions of years and consists of billions and billions of galaxies. No doubt there have been, are, and will be billions and billions of planets with intelligent life separated by billions and billions of miles and billions and billions of light years.
They’re out there, but for all practical purposes they don’t exist.

The basic premise of SETI is that aliens know of our existence and are trying to contact us, in which case they wouldn’t use a technology that we knowingly don’t possess. That’s also the premise of the movie Contact.

We’re probably not going to find anything by “listening” for extraterrestrials Countless hours spent on extraterrestrial sitings (physical/audible) is for naught if one misses the Plan of Salvation (believing in the Lord Jesus Christ) from the One who controls the universe and beyond.

I visited the Very Large Array not long ago, where much of that movie was shot.
There are entire counties that are smaller than the VLA complex. You see it from MILES away across the desert and plateau. Absolutely amazing place.
Be warned though. Cell phone coverage within a forty-minute drive of the place is nonexistent.
