Jeff Sessions made ‘error’ in DACA legal memo, says Justice Department

The Justice Department said in court Wednesday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions made an “error” in his memo laying out the legal problems with the Obama-era DACA program, as a federal judge repeatedly blasted the Trump administration for weak reasoning in revoking the deportation amnesty.

Government lawyers say the error isn’t enough to sink their case, arguing Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program is unlawful and the risks of trying to defend it in court were enough to justify the six-month phase out the acting Homeland Security secretary initiated last year.

I doubt Sessions wrote the memo, it was signed by him but probably written by a staff of Justice Dept lawyers.

He was better in the Senate...and if still there, we might have a better AG (and deputy AG) plus would still have that Senate seat.

Here’s the bottom line, mistake or not:

DACA is NOT a law. It is a policy directive issued by one President. Another President has said, “This is not our policy.” DACA is thus dead. End. Of. Story.

I am quite certain that the Supreme Court will back that result.

That I’m used tin be the case but we now live in a world where unelected and unaccountable judges prohibit the laws of the land from being enforced. They are, in essence, our true rulers. We just sit and hope they don’t rule that we all get euthanized or something like that.

I am sorry. But, I don’t think you can do that. These departments have many ongoing investigations going on in various issues. You can’t close down institutions just because an apparent few people are not acting properly.

I suggest, for your consideration only, that we let the independent departments look into and expose this and clean up the mess.
