AG Jeff Sessions to make 'major sanctuary announcement' in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) —

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is coming to Sacramento on Wednesday morning to make a "major sanctuary jurisdiction announcement," officials with the Department of Justice released Tuesday.

The announcement will be happening at the 26th annual Law Enforcement Legislative Day hosted by the California Peace Officers' Association at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel next to the Golden 1 Center.

Sessions' appearance in Sacramento comes a week after more than 150 people were arrested in California for being in the country illegally during a three-day sweep by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

About half of those arrested for being in the country illegally had criminal convictions, ICE officials said.

A day before the sweep began, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf warned residents about the sweep, calling it her "duty and moral obligation" to warn families.

A top immigration official said Wednesday that about 800 people living illegally in Northern California were able to avoid arrest because of Schaaf's warning.

"What she did is no better than a gang lookout yelling 'police' when a police cruiser comes in the neighborhood, except she did it to a whole community," Thomas Homan, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement acting chief, told "Fox and Friends."

California became known as a "sanctuary state" after Senate Bill 54 was signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown. It went into effect on Jan. 1 and prohibits police from asking questions about someone's immigration status during routine interactions.

Chump don’t want de hep. Chump don’t get de hep. Sessions should announce that all illegals rounded up will henceforth be deported to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland or Sacramento with an ankle monitor that prevents them from leaving the state.

I agree with you but behind the brave front they would be bricking it. Fear is the only thing a mob understands and it’s been years since they felt any.

The difference is she is not participating in a crime that is being committed, she is preventing someone from committing a crime. Cops are generally ok with that, except when it threatens their revenue stream.

He will send them a strongly worded message. And that will be it.

The mayor may be right about not being illegal in her warning.

Arguably, she is aiding and abetting. I suspect only a wild-eyed radical city attorney, which is probably the standard in her city, would have advised her to disclose LE's tactical plans.

Sadly, Sessions’ “major sanctuary jurisdiction announcement” is likely to be that he recuses himself.

That, or will taunt them a second time.

I'd be ecstatic if he announced arrest warrants for Libby Schaaf and others for obstruction. Ah, perchance to dream.

Similar to George Costanza on Seinfeld. He built a secret bed under his desk and slept all day and then clocked out when it was time to go home.

"That is a very foolish post"

Certainly the clueless aspect of the Never-Jeff crowd is embarrassing. But, in a technical sense, even though Sessions has been fantastically productive it could be said he is both the best and worst AG since the last one.

And who appears to be a traitor to the American cause. Now do you need a second helping of kool aid or did you choke on the first?

Trump did say he ought to just pull feds out. Let illegals collapse everything, cut their funding. Make Nan and mad max scream for help then shove their impotent asses to the side.

I will look up from my book when Sessions calls a presser to announce a task force to investigate Bill and Hillary, the clinton Foundation, the IRS and cadre of the FBI looking for criminal prosecution. Standing next to him will be Rudy Giuliani.

“The mayor may be right about not being illegal in her warning”

could easily be obstruction of justice if she used information ICE provided Oakland law enforcement officials ...

Why should the federal government supply information to California from FBI databases regarding felons, DNA, or fingerprints?

Doesn't the FBI operate some forensics labs? I recall them falsifying evidence. Perhaps the FBI should force California to falsify their own evidence.

This lack of cooperation can operate both ways.

Huh? Did you perhaps respond to the wrong person?
