I need to rent a car, preferably a comfortable van.
I don't want to rent it from the venture signalling hypocrites.
Any suggestions?
With Avis, Hertz, Enterprise, Alamo, and National gone, there isn't much left.
I looked at Budget, but they don't have anything large enugh for four people and luggage.
U-Haul.............
How far is your trip? Is the vehicle being dropped off at a different location?
Budget is a part of Hertz anyway. Ive only rented from those majors, but you may check out Thrifty. Or a variety of other low budget options. Sixt. Payless. Etc.
Most car dealers will rent cars on a short-term basis. Start there.
Priceline defaults to the major companies but you can also expand the choices to many others.
If you need to rent or return outside of normal business hours most major airports have 24-hour operations for car rental. Airports are often cheaper for the rental (more competition) but you will pay more in taxes at airports.
I understand that there are now vehicle sharing apps. Like AirBnB but for cars, RV’s and trucks.
If you want or need a full size 4WD SUV, Hertz is the only one who will guarantee it, everybody else among the major rental companies say you may or may not receive one with 4WD.
So, this uproar over public relations pertaining to the NRA can’t change my needs and who will fulfill them, should I decide to go back to the 4WD beach on the OBX. I’m not going to buy one just for an annual or biannual trip so Hertz it is.
Home Depot rents vans but I have no idea how far your trip is or duration of trip.
If you boycott every business that pisses you off, you’ll have to live a primitive existence in the woods.
Virtue signalling.
We rent from Marietta Toyota
I don’t need 4wd.
I just need comfortable transport for 4 small peoople, each with one suitcase and backpack or valise.
Looks like I may have to bite the bullet and rent from the virtue signalers.
Groan.
U-Haul doesn't offer anything to accomodate 4 people. You can get a standard pickup truck (seats 3) or cargo van (seats 2) from U-Haul for $19.95/day plus mileage (rate depends on location). See the uhaul.com website for details.
Disclaimer: yes, I work for U-Haul
Some automotive dealers will rent vehicles, there are local agencies too.

Go ahead and rent from one of these anti-NRA rats and when you return the car/van COMPLAIN ABOUT EVERYTHING! Cripple them with customer complaints.
Almost every good sized town has a new or used car dealer that rents cars.
I once used Rent-a Wreck, and they lived up to their name. At first, I rented a ‘71 Plymouth Satellite, but after about a mile or so, it stalled in the left lane of a busy boulevard and wouldn’t restart. This was a hair-raising experience, but I eventually contacted the rent-a-car office and was rescued. Then they gave me a ‘73 Ford Torino which ran well, but it was obviously due for a transmission overhaul. Nonetheless, I drove it 300 miles without incident.
