Full title:
Trump calls campus deputy who hid from school gunman a 'coward' and says: 'He certainly did a poor job'
'So he certainly did a poor job,' Trump repeated. 'But that's a case where, somebody who was outside, they're trained, they didn't react properly under pressure or they were a coward. It was a real shot to the police department.'

Actually it wasn't failure at all.
The Sheriff's Department had an agreement with Broward County schools to NOT MAKE ARRESTS. The Campus Deputy would have had to violate this agreement if he tried to stop and arrest the shooter.
This was about 20 years ago. Honestly, I shocked myself because I never really thought I’d respond that way. We looked over, and a block away this kid comes running around a corner at full speed, followed soon by a pack of seven or eight other kids, clearly catching up. Once they got to him it was mayhem like I’ve never seen this side of a movie screen. I handed my coffee to my wife (we’d stopped for starbucks) and, at first, I remember thinking, “this could be dangerous”, but saw what they were doing to this kid and I just ignored that thought and went in full speed. As I got there a taxi stopped and he ran over to the fray and the two of us were just pulling these kids out of the way, yelling for them to stop.
Honestly, I think the Lord was protecting us and also I think what I call the “cats and dogs” theory may have applied a little. That is, they are cats and we are dogs. In a neighborhood, cats don’t respond to the arrival of a stray dog, but they’ll tear a new cat to pieces. They don’t mess with dogs. Only cats. If we had been a couple of asian guys it may have gone differently. But that’s only a theory.
I agree too, and Donald has something to learn yet about shooting from the hip.
Yeah, maybe it wasn't cowardice at all, but rather embarrassment over the stench emanating from his pants.
And in their crazed effort to prove Trump wrong, the media will expose that very fact. Just don't tell anyone I said that.
Donald did allow more possibilities though.
“I bet Trump never used the work Coward. The media lies, lies, lies and then lies some more.”
He sure did, he said it to a reporter as he was leaving the WH.
Heh, working on it. I think I will concentrate on the “aim small” part...
You are wrong.
Everyone considered him the Coward of the County.
What’s wrong with Trump calling a spade a spade?
Perfect!
The Coward of Coward county. He was no Audie Murphy.
I just read where the guy thinks he did a good job by calling it in, identifying the shooter, and “setting up a perimeter”.
If that was his job and that is what he was trained to do, I would have to have words with whoever wrote that policy.
If I had a weapon, could I set up a perimeter and hear gunshots and screams, and stay put? I don’t think I could, and I HOPE I couldn’t, even if that means going against my training and policies and losing my job.
“Most cops never have to, many do not practice sufficiently to be decent shots.”
But yet they almost always have good enough aim to kill someone’s family pet.
The video is at the link. Trump said "...he didn't have the courage..." Where is that different from saying he was a coward?
Premature? The shooting occurred about 9 or 10 days ago. They know exactly where Peterson was and what he as doing.
He was outside the building where the shooting was in progress, I believe the west side of building 12. And stayed in that position for about 4-5 minutes, never entering the building. Each round he heard going off was likely a young kid being brutally murdered.
He just became a hero to the leftists, soon to discuss his feelings on cnn, msnbc, etc.
Wouldn't that also be a possibility had armed teachers been present and responded?
If there’s any justice in this world the Broward Coward will be shunned the rest of his life.
The hero in him might simply have been trained away, for example, due to poor local police policies set in place.

Very possible.
And as I read this -

it occurs to me that Peterson actually might have been ordered to STAND DOWN.
He certainly was under previous orders to ignore teen violence. So he failed to respond to the shootings?
Just part of the job.
