Full title:
Trump calls campus deputy who hid from school gunman a 'coward' and says: 'He certainly did a poor job'
'So he certainly did a poor job,' Trump repeated. 'But that's a case where, somebody who was outside, they're trained, they didn't react properly under pressure or they were a coward. It was a real shot to the police department.'

He just shifted the dialog completely by using one little word. He can take what they dish out, and he’s very well privy to information we don’t know about yet.
The immediate retirement of the SRO in light of the criticism from his own boss is telling though.
Pretty obvious that he was though or he would have never immediately resigned.
Bet he's not sleeping very well.
A big burly type of guy calls in to our local radio station and scolds us listeners: You dont know what you would do in the same situation so people should stop mocking this guy.
I didn’t carry at the time and yes, it was risky. But you sort of get a “let the chips fall where they may” attitude.
I was on a bike ride with my wife and, yes, I was wearing ridiculous spandex and a helmet and bike gloves and shoes.
I’m no hero. I did what needed to be done and didn’t really think about it.

Most cops never have to, many do not practice sufficiently to be decent shots.
Anyone who carries a gun should shoot regularly, most just qualify once a year.
This is what political correctness does to society.

FReeper i_robot73 said it best: dont want the responsibilities, dont sign-up for the job.
And who might the leader of that police department be?
It's probably a good thing you had the helmet and glove on. Good job.
He almost always does and almost always is correct.
I just purchased a system that has a laser bullet that goes into the chamber, and it integrates with your smart phone to let you practice dry firing, and it has helped me a great deal to learn some muscle memory, shoot with my eyes open and such, but...I am still a lousy shot at anything past 40 feet.
What I wonder about is probably what any person at any point in history who has ever had to handle a weapon wonders about: “If the time comes, and I have to do it...can I do it?”
They have training where I work on “Code Silver” situations, an armed shooter in the institution. They tell you to run away.
I am no hero, I have never been in combat, but if I saw a guy walk by me in the hall with a loaded weapon heading towards a group of my co-workers, mentally, it seems wrong to run the other way as instructed. I know why and how, but it feels like it goes against the grain of every value I was taught growing up.
I don’t know if I could do anything to stop a shooter. I might well run the other way as they want me to, and hide in some bathroom “Shelter in Place” bulls**t “haven” they want you to go to.
But in my heart, I feel like I could not consign my unsuspecting co-workers to their fate. It just seems wrong. Hopefully I never have to find out.
That’s one thing I love about Trump.
He’s not PC. He calls a spade a spade and the heck what anyone thinks about it.
I think that is a stupid policy, but FPS does not want the guards getting in the way of first responders (friendly fire).
But my question is; what were this guys orders? If it was to maintain visual observation until LE arrives, I might cut HIM some slack.
If you remember Columbine, that was SOP. First to arrive setup outer perimeter until SWAT arrived. A lot of kids died because of that strategy. After Columbine, that changed in most jurisdictions, LE tries to standardize response training and tactics so, regardless of the responding agencies, first to arrive form an entry team and try to neutralize the shooter as fast as possible.
So I won't condemn until I learn more. If his orders were to assist in the arrival of additional LE, he probably does believe he did a good job, and the fault would be on the LE agency for using antiquated tactics. But I certainly understand the anger. Would not want to be this man.
If the yellow shoe fits...
Which is why ex-military is what Trump suggests as a primary person on campus - they have experience running into buildings and firing.
How does big burliness show on the radio?
I shoot 100 rounds of .22 every week at 25 yards at a 6” target.
Aim small, miss small and practice, practice, practice.
Has made me better with every other gun.
Until I know exactly what happend, I cant really comment on the guy. This could be like Obamas "Police acted stupidly" comment.
And failures of the school discipline system, which failed to enforce any discipline against the kids when he was acting out.
It a failure of GOVERNMENT.
