“The Party” is irrelevant. This confusion is, I think, a consequence of its inhabitants styling themselves as our leaders, when in fact they are supposed to be our representatives. When they discover after being beaten over the head with it like a stupid mule meeting a two by four that whatever golden vision they have concocted through inadequate education, over-familiarity with the Beltway illusion factory, and a vast over-estimation of their own importance isn’t reflected by the electorate, yes, they’re going to be a bit confused.
