University of Miami basketball coach Jim Larranaga took the opportunity after Saturday's 62-55 loss to Syracuse to let the world know his views on gun control in the wake of the Stoneman Douglas High massacre.
"I think we have to do something about our gun laws," Larranaga said. "We're not the Wild, Wild West where everybody should carry a gun. There needs to be accountability and responsibility for people in charge of selling guns and buying guns."

Stick to coaching basketball...You might work on that a little bit...
Shut up and coach the dribblers.
Maybe look at the school policy which does NOT report incidents to the police. IIRC, Trayvon Martin’s school engaged in the same policy cuz they got better marks in the “see our wonderful students”.
It is soooo much easier to pass a law rather than address a social dysfunction. Feel good instantly and no need to think about the problem, anymore. That it doesn’t work is totally beside the point.
Who don’t we do something about the shooters?
We Are Western Civilization!
Armor-Up the Damn Schools!
Talked with a deputy sheriff this weekend and that's exactly what we need! Everybody open carry! Lot of respect!

You fight fire, with fire.
We have to do something about the break down of the family and other cultural issues.
We don’t have too few gun control on the books; in fact, we have 30,000 of them.
Something liberals never bother to tell us about. We need yet another law to keep people from going postal.
Right, coach?
How often did these incidents occur in the “wild, wild west,” where “everybody” wore a gun?
his opinion matters why?
To stop the shootings, find out the reasons why kids didn’t shoot up schools as they brought their rifles to high school for their ROTC training and the culture now where they feel like sitting ducks.
Something changed and it sure wasn’t an inanimate object.
How many of his players are fatherless?
Yeah, when I want some overpaid ex-jock’s opinion on my Natural Rights, I’ll beat it out of his dumb face with a nail-studded baseball bat...
Agreed. And it’s fun to go to the old yearbooks section of Classmates.com and see the rifle and gun clubs that both boys and girls participated in, knowing that basically nothing like that happened then either.
