House GOP leaders are forging ahead with their own hardline immigration bill, as the Senate threw in the towel Thursday on legislation to protect hundreds of thousands of young, undocumented immigrants from deportation.
The main author of the House bill, Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), said Thursday that hes building support for his measure, even as other GOP colleagues said an initial vote tally this week was well below the 218 votes needed to pass the bill.
Speaker Paul Ryans (R-Wis.) instructions to me are get this bill done, and were working hard to accomplish that, Goodlatte said in an interview for C-SPANs Newsmakers program.

(R-Calif.) and Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) are all in to get that done and were going to work very hard, Goodlatte said, adding that his Securing Americas Future Act has White House approval.

Only in DC could an overly generous immigration proposal be labeled “hardline”.
Translation: “hardline” = enforces the law and the border.
Amazing how fast Congress gets off of its ass to work for infiltrators but when it comes to things like veteran’s care they’re slower than a sloth.
Hard Line?
Every GOP plan on the table offers some level of Amnesty to at least 1.8 million illegal immigrants.
In exchange, the Democrats give us a double pinky promise that existing immigration laws already on the books might be enforced, for a while, at some point in the future.
“Hardline” means enforcement of laws.
So when will the MSM start calling RINO and Demoncrap plans “soft-headed”????
Whenever the GOP doesn’t lay down 100% for democrats they are characterized as hard-line, far right, right wing.
Socialists, leftists and far left democrats are generally characterized in less judgemental terms such as moderates and centrists.
What’s funny is that the Goodlatte bill even lets the DACA kids stay. That ALONE is a huge compromise with the law as written.
Why is it called an immigration plan then? Are you saying there is nothing but wall funding in it?

Gosh, these poor children just showed up on our doorstep, right? Uh, no.
The Bamster and Hillary's State Department coordinated the illegal transportation of Central Americans via train into the US.
So, once again, the rats use innocents to keep electoral power.
They make messes, and yet get angry and oppose others charged with cleaning them up.
So it’s “hardline” to protect our border and society from criminal aliens. And the only way to show compassion is to grant amnesty to 11+ million illegal aliens, keep the insanity known as Diversity VISA Lottery, chain migration, anchor baby citizenship, and no eVerify.
Kate Steinle would disagree.
All you disabled vets, retired military, and those who depend on Social Security - remember that Congress can't give you a real Cost of Living raise based on REAL inflation, but they bend over backwards to help millions of Illegal Invaders who break our laws, leach off the welfare system, overrun our schools and Emergency Rooms, and spit on our citizens.
Yep. This is because we've let them control the narrative.
The DACA kids have to go.
The only concession to them I would consider is that they not be permanently banned from legal immigration through proper channels after deportation first.

Fourteen Republicans voted against this version of the immigration plan in the Senate. Fourteen. Three Democrats voted for it.
hardline.....showing up in every story in this. Why? This is not hardline....so what adjective would you use? Sensible comes to my mind.
Open borders and endless immigration is the objective of big businesses and the Wall Street crowd.
I wish the repubs would call with what it is.....national security. DACA is secondary. Build the wall, stop chain migration and radically raise the bar regarding who gets in and take money from communities who don’t support ICE/Federal Law Enforcement.
Take up DACA separately....Keep getting rid of them for now. Screw these judges.......
It’s not a “hardline” bill...it’s right in the center of policy options on this issue. These youngsters are not “undocumented”. They are illegal invaders who were allowed into this country through an unconstitutional decision made by the Obama regime. No other country would allow this kind of illegal immigration. The democrats only support illegal immigration because 90% of these people will eventually vote for democrats if they become citizens—and that’s exactly why we cannot allow them to have a special path to citizenship. They can get in line with everyone else in a merit-based immigration system.
