Cruz was a known mental case, menace. He made threats.

They were reported.

What else is needed?

They were reported to the FBI.

God only knows what the FBI did with that information. “Encourage him on” is as likely a course of action as any, given the individuals in decision-making capacities in that agency.

Well, at least now we know that a ball was dropped here, and who dropped it.

This one didn’t come out of the blue.

After the fallout and the FBI takes the heat on this, you can bet that such warnings in the future will be taken seriously, at their peril.

It is not that easy - so they go interview the kid...... “do you want to be a professional school shooter?” He says - “I was just joking”. They refer him to mental health and they get the same response. The school counselor talks to him and he says he was just acting out and didn’t mean it. They expel him anyways.

Now what?

Is it a crime to say that? Have you read the comments lately on youtube channels and MSM news stories? I even read comments here occasionally that make me cringe, but I don’t think the FBI or cops should go arrest the person. For every million “they should shoot them all” comments you read how many people act on it?

I just wrote a long response on another thread a few minutes ago about this from my perspective in law enforcement. I am sick about this incident and others and have probably heard more about some of these incidents than most in active shooter trainings, but I would caution any desire to move towards a police state where “spouting off” or “having more than one firearm” is cause for detention. We cannot remove the rights from 319,999,990 people for the actions of 10. That is likely to lead to more murder than these horrific incidents.

As you know given your tagline and thanks for your service - Jesus would be an answer for such people, but we cannot force that on them or legislate it.

A non-politicized FBI?

Should I even suggest it? ...anti-2nd Amendment FBI? ...let it happen?

Evidence.

There’s a new report out there, the thread was pulled, but a reporter in Houston spoke with a teacher who was walking with Cruz down the hall as the shooting started.

The teacher said, on TV, that the teacher was speaking with Cruz as the shooting started.

“Cruz was a known mental case, menace. He made threats. They were reported. What else is needed?”

How many threats like this our law enforcement people get? My guess is it’s so many that they can’t spend much time on most of them. Another guess is that only a small percentage require law enforcement’s attention.

I remember a parole officer who was being bashed because one of her parolees did something bad. She responded that she had hundreds of parolees under her supervision and just couldn’t spend “adequate” time on each one of them.

Our cops are spread thin.

“What else is needed?”

An actual crime.

I guess some of this might dance on the edge of being a “threat,” but to be legally actionable a threat has to be very specific — not “I want to kill someone,” but rather “I am going to kill John Doe.”

And proving someone is crazy enough to deprive them of liberty (being a threat to himself or others) is very hard thanks to the liberal supreme court of the 1970s and .. . . believe it or not . . Geraldo Rivera who made his name by producing slanted and salacious shows on mental institutions, which turned public opinion against locking up crazies.

Like all the other adolescent male school shooters, he was a known threat and had had contacts with “the authorities” before. Supposedly his adoptive mother (who died in September) tried to get some kind of treatment for him, but I don’t know exactly what it was and in any case it seems as if she hadn’t managed to make contact with anybody who could help him.

This latest killer, btw, was not supposed to be allowed on the campus “with a backpack.” So clearly he’d made threats that were known (he had once talked about bombing the school). But nothing serious was done.

I think one of the big problems is that neither the schools nor the parents have many options in what they can do. Once upon a time, there were great residential (and often involuntary) adolescent mental health facilities, but that went away as a result of one of those weird coincidences between left and right: conservatives (such as Reagan, who short-sightedly closed all of those places in California) didn’t want to pay for them, and liberals felt that these yutes were just expressing themselves and hey, who Is anyone, including his parents, to say he’s crazy and in need of help?

They were both short-sighted views that have had a huge cost, in every sense of the word, to our country.

Every celebrity or democrat who makes threats should be put on no gun list. The FBI and cops should demand a visit and make them as uncomfortable as possible.....Dem thugs get away with it ,so it continues day after day...

Not only reported but his real name reported that had an unusual spelling - “Nikolas” and a Hispanic surname “Cruz” meaning his name stood out meaning any 5th grader using social media, Google, could have found this guy in two seconds flat. The FBI - ONCE AGAIN - is LYING and hiding something.

he was not adjudged as such by a court or a medical professional.

you really want LE to lock up people on mere suspicion? are we throwing the BoR under the bus now?

if they used that standard, half of this forum would be under arrest for their “kill them all” comments.
