Mark Warner was texting a Russian oligarch using an encrypted app, Signal, and his messages were set to automatically delete.
FoxNews broke a huge story about Senator Mark Warner, which has been discussed elsewhere.
What I haven’t seen anyone else cover is the fact that the “text messages” were not ordinary messages. Warner was communicating via Signal, an encrypted app. Moreover, Warner had his messages set to disappear. (The hour glass icon in the text exchange.)
Warner’s decision to use Signal and disappearing messages has two implications.
One goes to sources. As these are screen caps, the source has been outed. It’s someone who was directly involved in the conversation who had physical possession of the phone. You’d need to have the actual phone in order to obtain the Warner screen caps.
Second, if, as Marco Rubio claims, Warner had nothing to hide, why was Warner using an encrypted app?

Nothing is ever deleted, ever. Once to text message goes out it is saved at NSA.

Also in the Warner messaging docs, it is mentioned that Assange spoke with Steele at some point, giving the impression that JA was willing to work with Steele. So, Assange may not be the white hat that some think he is.

That’s what I use for private conversations. Even feel secure enough to send passwords and the like.
Signal is security done right.
In a nutshell, the NSA is able to capture the electronic signals enroute from Point A to Point B.
The NSA has it all.

That can only happen on either end of the conversation. Warner wouldn't do it if he wanted the message to remain secret. What about the person on the other end (Steele associated)?
Maybe, as someone else said, it was the NSA, in which case someone there is releasing it... wouldn't that be a big deal?
