What about the wall???

The Wall is now clearly a campaign lie.

It isn't going to happen, at least not beyond some token minor construction that New York Donny and the GOP can take pictures of when begging for our money. And that minor construction will be traded for the Democrat's/GOPe's wished-for massive amnesty for illegal aliens.

“The Wall is now clearly a campaign lie.”

Hardly. The problem is the wimps in the GOP Senate leadership denying him funding.

I would say it differently. It wasn't a lie. Trumps wants it. However he does not have the political power to get it. I think many of us that have been around the block knew this all along. After all Trump was the only one talking about it. Few people if any in government ever say anything about building a wall. Big beautiful wall. Yeah right.

Why do you only target ‘non military’ spending?

Are you aware of the hundreds of billions not only wasted on politically correct bullsheet, but are unaccounted for by auditors?

I’m referring to the Army and the Pentagon.

Not to mention going to war under false pretenses.

“Spending is out of control in Congress, and not only has Trump not managed to reign it in - when many were counting on him to impose some sort of financial discipline, or at least change the prevailing mentality - but now, there’s a “new acceptance” of high spending again, just what the country DOESN’T need.”

Trump never ran as a deficit hawk. I don’t know why you expected he would be one.

Trump believes in “growing the economy” method of balancing the budget.

Some people, (the same people) are all or nothing when it comes to the deficit and immigration.

“Kick ‘em ALL out!!!” “Cut ALL spending!!!”.

It’s not REALITY. You make the best deal you can (for now). Maybe circumstances will improve in the near future, maybe they will get WORSE and the current deal may look GREAT in retrospect.

Trump is a master deal maker. He knows when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em, when to raise and when to bluff.

You can only bake what you have the ingredients for, there is no “pie in the sky”.

Trump is doing just FINE so far. (WAAAAAYYYYY better than fine), give him a chance. This is ONLY the FIRST year.

Myself, I will reassess after FOUR (4) years. I am VERY optimistic.

I think Trump took as good a deal as he was going to get, and is moving on. Winning races in 2018 would help put some spine in the Nervous Nellies of the GOP. Trump had zero chance of winning a big fight to cut spending. Part of good negotiating is not insisting on playing a losing hand to the bitter end...

The U.S. will prop up any foreign government — even a hostile one — as long as it conducts business in U.S. dollars.

Perhaps parts of it are, but it’s way better than no deal at all or another CR, and it gives the President some running room to fix what he really doesn’t like.
>

Damn, it’s good I got some hip-waders around here...The capitulation party rides again!

And HOW, pray tell, does the PRES. ‘fix’ *anything*. Unless it’s through Congress, he’d be doing the same BS (at least *I*) was crying Zero and the rest were doing: EO’s, edicts...UNCONSTITUTIONAL in every way.

>
The other good thing that’s happened as a result of the Tax Reform Bill is that government revenue is up. January it was up $18 billion.
>

Holly Schiff, now I’ve just about heard everything. An ‘(R)N(C)’ extolling GOVT obtaining MORE of our taxpayer $$$ as a GOOD thing *SMH*.

>
Achieving a vibrant economy is going to help the deficit by virtue of the increased incomes and consequent tax collections.
>

More bovine bloviation. The extra $$ will *NEVER* go towards the debt/deficit as Congress will, like THIS bill, just up the amount S-P-E-N-T.

>
Now the job is to shutter Federal Agencies that have no real purpose other than RAT jobs programs to buy votes, and to seriously curtail foreign aid and our “support” for the UN.
>

Oh, I’m sure THAT’S on the docket for Congress. Tell me, FRiend, which have YOU heard they’ll be starting with first? *Pfft*.

Donald Trump spent his entire life building a real estate empire on massive piles of debt. Anyone who thinks he has an ounce of fiscal responsibility in him was deluding themselves.

This was all on Congress, not Trump. He would have signed anything they put on his desk.

Well, you shure got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning! People like you, who opt for no bread at all, as opposed to half a loaf are the reason we're where we are today. Just tell me how we're going to get rid of RINOs, take RAT seats in The Senate, and do constructive things so long as we have a completely disfunctional Congress? At least they've shown the sheeple that they can actually pass a budget, so maybe, even though they really deserve no credit for so doing, the idiot voters will not turn their backs on them in November, and not give us divided government once again. It could be a whole lot worse than it is, sorry to say.

I disagree with a lot of people here on this topic. I actually don’t think people should “give a sh*t about the national debt”. I sort of liken it to the right-wing’s version of climate change. Whereas the left listens to “scientists” who tell them that unless we correct our profligate ways, “we’re all doomed”, the right listens to the green lampshade types who say the same thing. Maybe it’s actually the case that one is true and the other is false, but I’ve not seen any evidence of that.

The military will remember this, as they will be asked to protect our nation in this evolving coup.
