Missed out on the first try, but I don’t give up. I get an automated job posting email from them. Several positions at the McGregor site look promising. But they are probably one of the hardest companies in the world to get hired into. EACH hire is personally vetted by Elon and Shotwell. I do have some unique manned space program experience and other stuff, but the bar is very very high.

I had the SpaceX feed up for about seven hours, it was mostly a frozen image (the time until thing would update if I reloaded the page), then it kicked on with perhaps 20 minutes to go? I went and got a beverage, used the facilities, checked outdoors for the Sun’s progress melting the driveway snow, and got back with 1:05 to go. The crowd went nuts with each interim step announcement — “control switched to FH onboard systems” (loud cheers) “go for launch” (loud cheers) and of course the 10-9-8 started right on the dot.
I HOPE that someone has the stream and just gives us the last minute to launch out until about 12 minutes after, that’s the whole show. I swear none of the YT pirates have any sense or any taste in music, and the next time I hear some ****ty robotic narration (and the foreign robotic narrations are worse), I’m going to just need a new laptop after I snap.
They couldn’t let the used parts fall into the ocean?

Heh... I know what ya mean... why can’t it be more like the 1960s, when all those astronauts and techs dealt with the stress by going home and drinking then yelling at the wives and beating all their kids? ;^)

When I saw one of these launches, months later, it was a SpaceX launch I think.
Obviously they knew that, and STILL used it for “a UFO”.
I tried watching one, it was awful. The joker was just running footage of an upper stage heading for higher orbit, with a view of part of the Earth’s sphere in the background, and he was goin’ Defcon Stupid — “that’s so fake! Look how fake! It’s so fake! It’s fake! It’s so obviously fake!” Yeah, that’s an argument that would convince *anyone*.
The people cheering are Spacex employees who have no role in the launch. They are filmed outside their mission control room. The actual mission control is serious as you would expect. (I like having employees, no matter their role, having an opportunity to be at the mission control).
Yes, I thought the simulation was an exaggeration as well.
This was a truly amazing feat of engineering. Hats off to SpaceX!

The clouds from the staggered ignitions looked 'right' from my having watched the static tests dozens of times, then the crowd in the background got louder, it just started up (light payload, after all), then the view swtiched to further out, big trail of fire, wow.
You're right, there should be an Emmy. And no one else should get an Emmy this year, because no one can top that, and Hollywood sucks.
I never got to see the Saturn V (or any other launch, to this very day, in person) apart from TV and nowadays on YT, but someone around here mentioned, in a thread about the dopey BS about the real reason we stopped going to the Moon -- during some of those post-17 'secret missions' apparently we ran into aliens -- that he forgot to watch one of the launches on TV, was mowing his lawn, but could hear it when the Apollo stack got high enough to give him line of sight.

Without all those peons in the trenches, this perfect launch would not have been possible.
Even the janitors and the rest room cleaners.
Not the best time and place for frustrating distractions... for the bodies that get all the glory.
