Apart from not yet knowing whether the core booster stuck its landing on the drone ship, the rest of the launch went perfectly!

It jumped off the pad.
Pretty impressive for such a big stack yes?

I loved the sound, crackling shockwaves like the Saturn V.

You know, I definitely realize that I am becoming a codger when I see all these millennial types yelling and screaming with rock music and cameras in Mission Control...and I realize, I am still somehow thinking they should all be wearing white shirts and striped ties...not speaking above a conversational tone...
And I slap myself and say “Get with it. They are young and have a lot to be proud of...”

I’d figured the simulated versions I’ve seen over the past few years were more or less exaggerations, that the side boosters would land perhaps 30 seconds apart. When they switched from the tiny screen to full screen so we could see the process better, I flipped out. Ordinarily, the crowd noise from the SpaceX employees watching the big show on the big screens is pretty loud. The FH launch sounded twice as loud as usual.

I could almost feel the power of that thing when it lifted off...the visual did that for me...

And the real reason the core booster exploded was, it hit the dome and crashed back down onto the flat Earth.

When I saw it flying into the darkness with the starman mannequin at the wheel I changed my mind. Brilliant marketing.
...
Yep, the free publicity should pay for the launch. I think the Starman is actually a SpaceX spacesuit that the astronauts will wear.

They’re hiring — at least, they mentioned job openings after the main show was over.

🚀 Pretty cool return to launch site for the side boosters. Hoping work I did when working the shuttle helped in the development of the tech they came up with for fly back boosters. 😉🇺🇸

Not really. I could see some of it out my window but I’m a long way away. I watched the video from one of the journalist 3 miles from the pad.
